Ricky2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Hey this may sound dim but here goes. On scramblers and cafe racers is the battery exposed to the elements or are they covered with some kind of protection? I've seen a few cafe builds taking all the body work off, just wondering if it is exposed how does the battery cope with rain?? Quote
mikestrivens Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Hello and welcome. I'd expect the electrics to have some sort of protection. Quote
Tango Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Some hide the battery in the seat hump on cafe racers..... Quote
fastbob Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 If the battery is hidden from view there's a good chance that it's one of these new Li-ion batteries ( I think that's right ) I understand that they are smaller and lighter and it doesn't matter which way up they go which makes them ideal for squeezing into odd spaces. Back to the original question, can a battery be exposed to the elements ? We'll yes , as long as the terminals can't arc to any nearby object there shouldn't be any issues. If they can keep acid or gel in then they can certainly keep water out. Quote
