Jon stead Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 Just bought an Xj900s, low mileage, great condition, 1998, was running ok but rich on 1,2 and 4 carbs.Took carbs off and found needle assemblies in bits in 1,2 and 4. Reassembled them, clearly need new o rings, but didn’t have any. Put carbs back on bike and now can’t get any fuel through to them. Electric fuel pump isn’t running when cranking engine. Took fuel pump off, rigged up temporary supply and pump runs. Why am I not getting 12v at the fuel pump? What have I missed? Thanks Quote
TimR Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 I presume you have seen it running before dismantling?I would go with checking Wiring connection s just in case you have pulled some thing apart and not noticedCheck Fuel pump fuseFuel pump relay Quote
Jon stead Posted September 21, 2019 Author Posted September 21, 2019 Hi TimR, yes I’ve been using it these last two weeks before removing the carbs. However, since posting the first entry in this thread, I’ve been at it again. I rigged up a temporary 12v supply to the fuel pump, filled carbs up, started bike, ran good. Stopped bike, started again just to see if it would. Stopped bike. Removed temp supply, reconnected to original supply, started engine. Ran it for 5 minutes without issue. Took it out for a ride and it was good. Thankfully. Now I need to sort out the retention o rings for the needle assemblies. Quote
