GiorgioG Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 Hi guys,Silly questions, As I don't have my driving license yet (mod 2 test next week), and my bike has been chained and covered since I received it.If the bike is wet because it was raining during a ride, is it still ok to cover it or it must dry before doing it?Thank you Quote
Guest Swagman Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 I would suggest you dry the bike before you put it away, leaving it under a cover wet will most certainly cause corrosion, if it’s raining when you park it dry it as soon as it stops raining if possible if not at the earliest opportunity. Beans Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 It's a good question. I use my bike to commute so, 1 it's often wet on the journey in and 2, it's often impossible to dry the bike during the day if it's continuing to rain. I have a cover stored at work and never know what to do Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Sounds like it'll be worthwhile to get some ACF50 or XCF? Slap that in a few times a year Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 I was going to say that winter would be worse than a bit of summer rain, then read this!https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/summer-gritters-heatwave-road-melt-4417432 Quote
Throttled Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 After years of parking a bike outside & commuting all year round, I have found that a cheap light cover is better than an expensive heavy duty cover, especially ones that are elasticated around the bottom. Cheap light ones, whilst not the most waterproof, also let the damp out and you can park the bike wet. A heavy duty cover traps the moisture. I would recommend this as it also has a vent & starts at £23 for the smallest (125cc) size;https://www.ghostbikes.com/5132-10213-black-sonar-motorcycle-cover-small-(mc-300).html Quote
