rabn Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I’m a complete noob, just getting into biking with my wife on a couple of 125’s. We live in London and only have the option of parking on the street in a motorcycle bay (no ground anchors). Regarding security, does the following sound like a good strategy..? - Lampost > 16mm chain (Oxford Nemesis) to rear wheel of bike #1 > 16mm chain between back wheel of bike #1 & bike #2 (chains kept off floor) - Unalarmed disc lock on front wheel of bike #1 and different brand alarmed disc lock on back wheel of bike #2 - Both bikes covered I’m hoping that’s going to be enough to deter opportunists, and (hopefully) seem like too much hard work for pro thieves for a couple of 125’s. Does that seem reasonable? Thanks Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I'm sure you are aware that nothing with stop determined thieves and you're on the right track making the bikes as secure as possible. Thieves are lazy so anything that makes your bike a harder target is good. 125s are often favoured by thieves so don't assume that they won't bother just because they are smaller bikes. That actually works the other way round The Oxford Nemesis is pretty much as good as it gets with chains. I would suggest two alarmed disc locks rather than one though. Also consider fitting covers over the bikes, that can help deter opportunists and make the bikes less visible. Quote
exportmanuk Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Make sure your chains go through the frame not just the wheels. It's simple to pull the axel out lift the bikes and leave the wheels. Quote
SloRider125 Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 (edited) If you have enough space through your frames, a company called Pragmasis (Security for bikes) has a product called the Anti-Pinch Pin. Comes in various sizes. They are made to be used with certain Squire Locks. So in theory, you could have two Anti-Pinch Pins, 1 chain and two squire locks.
