In rutland for a week - where should I go?

Recommended Posts

Some great roads around there...

A6003 Oakham to Kettering and A606 Melton to Stamford both fast and flowing. B6047 Melton to Harborough is legendary in those parts and if you like tricky and technical try the B664 Uppingham to Harborough. Then there's the famous Benefield Bends on the A427 between Corby and Oundle...

Sigh. I quite miss some of those roads (used to live in South Leicestershire)...

There used to be a bike meet type pub in Morcott on the A47 near Uppingham, or if it's a nice day there's usually a few bikes stop at Whitwell by Rutland Water for an ice cream...

Agree with the above test, I've ridden all, the benefield bends are a test of suspension, the uppingham road is awsome, though keep the speed down or you'll launch and smash bits off your bike (voice of experience)

the melton - market harborough road is good.

also there is the bike meet at six hills next to the A46 on a tuesday.

Bassets pole isn't too far away either I guess if you're out and about and fancy aiming for somewhere.

cheers for the hints - I did Oakham to Stamford (a road I already knew but had never done on the bike)

Did 6003 from and to kettering on the way up and back

and made it up to MFN for the mon and wed meets :)

Plenty of riding and you guys are right - awesome roads. The 606 up to nottingham was great fun :D
