Buggy Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Hello friends, I have started a project.Buggy with an engine from the aforementioned Yamaha, but I have a starting problem. I bought the original wirings but not the ignition switch/key. Will I be able to run it without it? Thanks in advance! Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 (edited) I think it depends on the year of the donor bike. Early Fazers didn't have an ignition barrel with a chip in the key. I think from 2004 they used the more standard setup of the ECU being linked to a transponder and chip in the ignition barrel and key. You had to have a red key to allow new keys to be coded. Plus you will appreciate this question could be asked by someone who had nicked a bike and wanted to know how to bypass the immobilizer so that's not something that we go into on a public forum. So maybe we should help "Wink". Cheers Ian 1 Quote
Buggy Posted July 28, 2022 Author Posted July 28, 2022 According to various details, I have the year 1998.I guess this is the year of manufacture...I haven't stolen anything, don't worry, I only have the engine and the electrical installation, I also have pictures. Quote

I don't think the 98 ones had an immobiliser so you can connect the wiring to a standard ignition switch which are pretty cheap to obtain. Quote
