Tom JW Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Hello all. I am heading off on a 3/4 month tour and will pass through the Alps, Balkans and Turkey I have bought insurance with Devitt but this only covers EU and few others and its not possible to get others included. Does anyone have any tips for getting insurance for countries that you can get covered on your UK policy. Thanks! Tom Quote
Gerontious Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 (edited) As far as Im aware you buy insurance for the Balkans at the border. countries like Bosnia and Albania. probably Serbia too. Croatia and Montenegro are both part of the EU so shouldn't be problematic. The same applies for Turkey. In all cases this is the minimum TPO equivalent. And you must use a 'major' border crossing as back road crossings won't have the office you need. Edited July 31, 2023 by Gerontious 1 Quote
Tom JW Posted August 1, 2023 Author Posted August 1, 2023 @Gerontious thanks so much for your message. I have read that purchasing at some borders like Turkey is a lot more expensive that buying ahead or from another local insurance broker. Quote

But what does “a lot more expensive” actually mean? £35 for 3 months is the figure I see most often. I guess that’s a lot more than £25 if bought via some other source. Assuming you can track it down and it’s actually genuine and your documents actually arrive in time. (Or at all) Quote
