MonkeyKnuckle Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I'd be happy to meet up in Portsmouth or somewhere if anyone else wants to follow my crazy route .. which is about 50% longer than it needs to be! I don't mind but I'll let STampie decide. Bearing in mind we plan to be in Pease by about 11am. Quote

Paul Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Bit difficult at the moment H. Those of us meeting up at PP should be looking at leaving there at around 1130. Now due to the volume of traffic on the way (thousands of bikes) the ride itself may take longer than usual. We could say meet up at 1230. Normally should be plenty of time but as I say, time goes out the window when a few thousand bikes hit town.Best just wait until we get there. I will ring you and see where you are when we get parked up.If you want to arrange something with the others who are not going to PP then that would be good. You lot could meet up first then we can come and find you. Quote
harrycpr Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 well if i give u my number on friday or saturday then u can just phone or txt me wen u get to brighton. Quote
clashfan83 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Sure thing guys will meet you at Pease!! Quote
Paul Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 CF, I will be at the Hilltop Cafe at the top of Dyke Rd at 1030 if you want to swing by on the way. (I take it you will be going along the A27 then up the A23?) http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr=portsmouth&daddr=B2147+to:B2146+to:B2141+to:A286%2FNew+Rd+to:midhurst+to:A272+to:51.075704,-0.343666+to:pease+pottage&hl=en&geocode=%3BFY5XCAMdNGvy_w%3BFQqeCQMdan_y_w%3BFVdeCAMdrOjz_w%3BFRbsCQMdxJz0_w%3B%3BFRAVCgMdUMn6_w%3B%3B&mra=dpe&mrcr=5&mrsp=7&sz=12&via=4,7&sll=51.05456,-0.324783&sspn=0.151927,0.366669&ie=UTF8&ll=50.857706,-0.173807&spn=0.008114,0.030856&z=16 Quote
Guest Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I have never been to Hilltop cafe but went past it a couple of times as a friend had suggested it as a possible meeting place, both times it was closed and there's a barrier. Quote
Paul Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 It is a good meeting place. Last time up there with the lads from work we looked where the bad weather was and went the other direction away from it! You can see all over the place from up there.Regarding the barrier there is a little road right next to it called Hilltop. There is another entrance to the place from that road too. Quote
Guest Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Yes I have done that with the weather. I go along Snakey Hill and before that I go past the dogs track that road I can see Devil's Dyke and the weather ahead. Ah I didn't know that about the Hilltop Car Park, useful. Quote
clashfan83 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I'm going to keep it simple and meet everyone at Pease. See you there everyone Quote
MonkeyKnuckle Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Couple of videos to whet people's appetites."> "> Also, I suggest we park on the outskirts and walk in instead of trying to cram into the middle, especially with newbies like me around. Quote
Paul Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Also, I suggest we park on the outskirts and walk in instead of trying to cram into the middle, especially with newbies like me around. Where? If you mean Brighton then you get directed straight to the sea front and straight to a parking spot on Maderia Drive. It's pretty straightforward really.I am not into the idea of leaving my bike around the outskirts as there are plenty of bike thieves operating when this ride is on.Also bear in mind there will be plenty of Police around keeping an eye on the riders so make sure you are fully legal before you go as quite a few riders will be getting pulled... MonkeyKnuckle Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Ok cool, didn't realise it would be so organised. Quote
Paul Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 If I remember correctly, I think they want you to 'donate' a fiver to park on the drive or something like that so worth taking a handful of cash to throw in the bucket. A feller or two stands there at the entrance with a bucket for donations so chuck in a few quid if you can. Quote
