On the way there, my first attack of hay-fever came on with a vengeance and left me battling the Halstead road twisties with one eye shut and trying to stop the spray from my other eye making my glasses become the equivalent of a motocross visor. Whilst wondering whether it would be safer to carry on, or stop just to be rear-ended on a tight bend by a fast car, a chap on a bike behind made a wise decision, and passed.
