Hi All,

I have a question you might be able to help me with !!!

I have a little piaggio 50cc that needed the stator replacing. I got the bike back from the  "Mechanic" but now theres a loud noise from the engine.

I believe its from the engine bearing. So hes ### up the bearings on me.

Heres what id like to ask you guys - Is it safe to continue to use the bike and how long might i get away with this until full engine failure. The noise is very loud but i use very little milage ! What to do.

If this noise really is coming from inside the engine you are already done. The only question is how much more damage you will do before it completely destroys itself.

is it dangerous to use and how many miles might i get before it stops ...

I have no idea as its not my bike. At a guess yes it's dangerous to use and final catastrophic failure is probably not far away. I'd not use it but I'm not you.

1.  Which engine bearing?

2.  Hard to destroy a bearing by fitting a stator.  There is where to look first.

3. Dunno, if it seizes or flies apart, it could cause all sorts of mayhem.

4. Very very quickly.

Hi,

They replaced the stator which involved removing the flywheel. When i went to collect the bike it had a loud whining sound coming from the engine. im only guessing that its the bearing as the "mechanic" said it sounded like a main bearing and must have been like that when i handed it in. it wasnt.

Is it worth buying a flywheel puller and tinkering with it to find out more ?

I assume its the bearing which means the engine is gone, if so do i keep using the bike till the engine fails or do i scrap the bike now.

think you need to either take it back for them to do a decent job or sign it off as lost cause, while looking for some other mech or just teach yourself.

id only buy one if you have the intention to want to do the job yourself and for future engine work?

personally riding it to deteriorate to terminal isnt a good idea, to strip it now and find out why is a good one, if you keeping the bike you could use/keep the good bits from this one and find a different engine.
