massivexfella Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Hello i recently brought a 2008 suzuki gs500 as a project and i wanted to turn it into a cafe racer/track bike, the only problem im having at the moment is the wiring, the whole bike was a mess and the wiring looks terrible, i want to rewire the whole bike and i want to delete all of the lights and other bits that arent really needed, but im honestly not sure where to start, i just want it to have a key/ignition and a starter button and then a killswitch everything else can go as i dont plan to ride it at night , i have looked up alot of wiring diagrams but im not sure what one would be best and alot of them are saying to buy certain expensive parts and i want to do this as cheap as possible, could anyone help me please and give me some advice or just atleast push me in the right direction on what to do so that i can get this sorted. Thank you in advanced :) Quote
Old-codger Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Probably your best bet would be to get a second hand loom for your model that hasnt been butchered about then you have all the plug connectors for the ecu and reg/rec and kill switch. Then you can adapt it to your needs from there. Dont forget if you intend to ride it on the road even on a daylight MOT you will need a horn and a rear brake light at least. 1 Quote
Bender Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Strip the loom out as it is, peg it out on a board work out what you want to keep, you can either use that to hold connectors where they need to be and remove and replace which wires you want, or make a duplicate board and make up the new one along side it. 3 Quote
