Cdj2k10 Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 I know now that this was a somewhat bad purchase, but, for the price and my budget, it seemed like a good buy and was, admittedly a reflex buy. When I went to pick the bike up, I didn’t notice that the gear shift lever and linkage was loose. Everything else looked good, the bike was warm and started up easily, it was comfy to sit on and felt right for me. After doing a little looking around I know it actually wasn’t the best buy, I’ve looked around at a few places, even phoned the sinnis UK dealership. They didn’t have the part… does anyone here have or know where I might get a new gear shift lever and linkage to fit? Thanks in advance for all reply’s (even the critics) Quote
Simon Davey Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 Hi @Cdj2k10, is it actually broken, or does it just need adjusting? Quote

Old-codger Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 Welcome to the forum, a picture would help so we can see what exactly is wrong. If you cant get a new part you probably can get universal rods with rose jointed ends that could be made to fit. Have you tried all the chinese spares places and searched ebay for sinnis stealth breaking or spares/repairs? 1 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 Unfortunately youve just worked out the trap that you thought you could have avoided you just fell in and gonna potentially get burned. Buy once pay twice , or more as often is the case with these type of bikes. Yes pictures or vids help. could be just needs tighten ing and lock tight, some washers adding, or a complete new part of bolt/nut? they stripped the tread? Maybe its had a little fall? depending on what’s gone wrong you might be luckly and adjust a generic one to fit your bike? Quote

RideWithStyles Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 (edited) Yea the ball joint is fine as it’s meant to rotate a little bit- highlighted by your first interaction on the video. Simples! it’s fitting( screw/nut behind) it needs tightening up- highlightened by your last interaction. the nut to the peg end needs setting to its link and not the start of the thread on the shaft as it is. Also depending on your biometric of your leg/feet, you might want to lower the lever abit by lengthening the rod a few revolutions. Edited August 24, 2024 by RideWithStyles 2 Quote

Simon Davey Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 As @RideWithStyles says, it just needs tightening. 1 Quote

The central shafts will rotate to extend at either end, the small nuts will lock it in place. The nuts have come loose and allowd the shafts to slacken. 1 1 Quote
Nick the wanderer Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 I'll give you my take on it. See pic. The shaft that moves side to side, in blue, shouldn't, it's loose. Is it coming out, should it be in further, the black lines show it may be coming out? Can it be tightened back up from the back? Green arrow. Maybe needs a dab of weld. That's where I'd be looking, good luck. 2 2 Quote
