sorry for the long read I just want to make sure I give the full story!

I have a 2012 Honda cbr 125r, and it currently doesn’t run, the bike starts and idles perfectly but if I open the throttle when the engine is cold (just started) it revs and makes a few popping sounds and cuts out when the throttle is closed and if I do the same thing when the engine is warm (after idling for 10 minutes) it just cuts out as soon as the throttle is opened and doesn’t rev at all.

I bought the bike and it didn’t run properly anyway which I already knew. It needed some bits doing and since I’ve had it I’ve replaced the transmission, selector forks and drum and had then engine back on the bike and it ran like a dream for about 10 minutes moving through all the gears perfectly and then it just packed up, when I took it apart again the camchain sprocket had come off and the cam chain had snapped.

I I thought it was the piston so ordered a new one before opening the engine and even though it was the camchain I changed the piston anyway and obviously the cam chain, checked the timing was right and the valve clearances before putting it on the bike.

And now I have the problem I described at the beginning, I don’t understand why it ran perfectly before the cam chain snapped and now it’s been fixed and put back on it just wont run.

im about to give up with this bike it’s caused me no end of trouble but I really want to get it running!
