Guest Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 . I think that straight line speed is very over rated , The hype that surounds it is mostly generated by members of the press . the real thrills are to be found when cornering . Here the outright speed around your favorite corner or roundabout is irelivent . Its more to do with the feeling you get entering and exiting . the trouble with speed /high speed is its an evil that needs and demands respect . i think of it like abusing alcohol , binge on speed and you will be sick . lol . The reality of top speed ive found is it pumps adrenilin up too 100ish then doesnt feel that gr8 untill ,170 +. 190 . At this speed it get harder to take the information into your brain of what your seeing ahead and a sort of tunneling effect starts to form at 195mph or 200mph plus is just insane due to the fact things around you start to look like a wheel spinning that fast that it looks like its solid rim not spokes . hedges and houses blend into green lines with dots on . and the road looks as if its moving left and right ahead of you like a huge gray ribbon blowing in the wind . for the math heads on the site do the maths on this . 200mph how long will it take you to travel 300 yards . the amount of notice your given for a turn off on a motorway ?????not that ive ever used an open road to do this sort of speed you understand . jabcrosshook Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I know that a train going 140mph can go 1 mile in 25 seconds. Quote
Platty5791 Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Yeah i understand what your sayingI cant do the whole cornering knee to the floor thing:(I'm new to biking, well, a year and a bit, but only 1 month on a bigger bike.At the minute i only slightly lean over haha, get the fear of the bike falling on its side and ruining my nice scratch free fearing:PMy mate goes round corners on his SRAD gsxr scraping his knees on the floor, sparks come off and everything haha, wheels literally on the side. but me, i pritty much turn haha.I'd love to be taught how to do that. so cool!p.s. came back from swimming an hour ago, LOOOOOOONG open road, straight for 3-4mile, tucked my head under the screen and opened up what a GREAT feeling.Hit 142 before i slowed down =pgoing round nice curvey turns in the road over 120/130 feels so great Quote

Guest Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 ive worked it out , tho im not sure its correct but here goes . when traveling at 200mph on a motorway and you see a your turn off is ahead . you see the turn off ahead and when you pass the first countdown marker 300 yds ......... you will have 0;3.263 of a sec to shut off and hit the brakes or youve gone right passed . lol . hows that for insane !!!!!! Guest Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Hit 70 today whilst training on a CG. Fastest i've been before. Quite different to the smooth ride I get out of my scooter, goes fast up to 55mph, then crawls on. Flashing images of an accident happening were in my mind, but I quashed them soon enough. Quote
