Allanmania Posted March 7 Posted March 7 So as the mornings get lighter and the weather has improved. Ive started taking my bike to work. Just wondering if its normal, I just passed my test in October and I'm a little wary on the bike in general. Mostly large corners on the motorway I slow down to the recomended speed 30/50 whatever it is. In a car I prob chuck it round there at 50/70 I guess I am best just riding to what I think is my capability until I feel I can push it more. Also I'm a little nervous about filtering. There is built up traffic to and from work but so far I have just riden like I drive a car stayed in my lane. Is it just experience and confidence on the bike? Was just looking for your advice/thoughts? Thanks peeps 1 Quote

Was just looking for your advice/thoughts? Thanks peeps From my own personal experience, you're thinking and riding as I do. Yesterday was my third ride of the year, previous two were simple short (hour or so) rides around country lanes. Yesterday though, was three hours of country lanes, main three lane carriageways (A12) and lots in the rush hour around and through Chelmsford City centre. It took me an hour to settle, I actually felt it happen, it happened on a trigger, I think it was some tw*t in an Astra trying to take my lane on a roundabout. I didn't let that happen, and suddenly I was on top of my game. That's me set up for the summer now, it'll be 10 minutes warm up, and then straight into riding with confidence from now on. You're definitely not alone. Edited March 7 by Simon Davey 3 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Sounds perfectly normal/sensible to me. No point riding on the public roads beyond your comfort zone, particularly at rush hour. A lot of people just don't filter, it can be a high risk activity. 4 Quote

Thanks peeps There is no right or wrong in this respect, just do what you’re happy with, I’m sure with more experience you’ll become a filtering demon like the rest of us 1 1 Quote
