Biker Down

I went to a Biker Down session this evening. Teaches you some basic techniques for how to deal with an incident if you're first on scene after a bike accident.

 

Lovely bunch of people delivering the course and, somewhat inevitably, lovely bunch of people attending.

 

Highly recommended.

i have wanted to do this for some time, just never got round to it.  They seem to fill pretty quickly as well, currently August is the only remaining slot.

Definitely worth doing. If you've done Bikesafe or one of the advanced skills session then a some of it will be refresher but it's really good to understand the realities of helmet removal and to actually practice it on someone, and also to hear about exactly how to do things right if you're first on the scene.

 

Of course most of it is really obvious when you sit down and analyse it but the reality is that you're not going to sit down and analyse if you turn up to an accident.

I went on one couple of years ago. It was a good mixture of police advice on, well not on riding techniques as such, but on the causes of accidents, why drivers don't see us and what we can learn from that, as well as the practical stuff of what to do at the scene of an accident. They even gave out mini first aid kits, heater pads, buffs and other useful free stuff.

 

Reading the above the content does vary, but if you've got one on locally I do urge you to go on one. They really are worth it.

its best to do a sewarch for your local biker down. eg the link below is for bikerdown herts.  There is a little more info on there.

I did a biker down a little wihle back and well worth it. I'd also recommend the Bike Safe course.
