curlylegend Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Oops ! Sorry to hear that , but as long as the only damage is to the bike, it's not the end of the world. Lots of people on here will give you advice but mine is sit down for a long time and trawl through YouTube videos about plastic body repair. You'll get it sorted ! Quote
bud Posted April 10 Posted April 10 (edited) You can get quite a good finish with a rattle can if you take your time. And use good quality paints. A good pain shop can mix it up the pain with the paint code. Or scan a panel to get a good match. You could also try eBay for a good used panel. Edited April 10 by bud Quote
RAYK47 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 (edited) As long as she is OK that's all that matters, and her confidence is not too damaged. as bud said, a rattle can on the painted parts should do enough. Otherwise check out ebay and scrap yards for replacement plastics. GOign forward you could look for some crash protection so if anything happens again, e.g. dropping it while walking it out the garage. The damage would be minimal. On a side note, i had a white one of those and it was a great bike and very cheap. Used it for 6months all through the winter before passing my full test. Edited April 10 by RAYK47 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted Thursday at 23:19 Posted Thursday at 23:19 Hi and welcome. sorry to hear that but as long as she’s ok, happened to the wife too. She had hers for 7years, tough little nuts. For the painted on pics 1,2,3. T cut or similar to get it even/smooth, then polish, then compound to smooth it down, then depending on how deep it is you could wax and leave or rattle can paint. I wouldn’t bother doing too much to the mud guard. for the lens (3) you could do the same of the painted or just find replacement indicators lens covers. Check the handle bar is even as they can bend slightly. just a note - the bike, well the front tyre looks new? The rubber hairs are still there and prominent dimples on the centre, Id hate to aSk what make and year was it made?) what pressure are they at? And with picture 1 & 3 is looking like she’s already using a lot of the front forks travel already? They are too soft from the factory, how much travel she using? If you measure the from the fork dust seal (rubber seal at the top of the lower cast) to the dusty ring mark on the Stanchion above, if is nearing 115mm already it would be safer to change the fork oil to a thicker grade, 15wt if shes a super feather weight 20wt if not. 1 Quote
Toothless Posted Friday at 13:58 Author Posted Friday at 13:58 Thanks everyone for the advice I have sorted some of it out just trying to make it look easier to the eye for her. Heatgun mirror cover, indicator and foot peg Black turtle wax on the plastic Wet and dry on front brake Spray can front brake, back brake and foot peg Got some 1600 wet and dry to try with a bar of soap and soapy water tomorrow hopefully. She got her straight back out later that night once she had calmed down no harm done to her just a bruised ego. She has put less than 150 miles on the clock brand new straight out of a Honda dealer. That’s why it looks so new and why she is so upset about dropping it. She took herself off to Galashiels this morning about 40 miles round trip so that’s a good sign. As it’s probably going down again we don’t want to put new plastics on it for the same too happen again. I have told her as long as she walks away from any accident it’s just a lump of metal we can get another one. Thanks again everyone much appreciated 2 Quote
