RideWithStyles Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Ok so not shavings or bits, great. But Bubbles? In the oil and that much? Have you been shaking the engine/oil before testing the dip???lol. it shouldn’t be doing that, it’s bad. so that suggests it’s pumping and foaming/froffing the oil. so its new oil and doing that now, oil is going to be useless in a few hundred not a thousand miles, Most quality oils and even mineral oils have antifoaming additives, maybe this one is shite or the wrong oil?? Seller didn't use it for quite a while so I assume maybe condensation? After a drive the oil doesn't seem to have anything on the dipstick anymore, just pure oil. I thought it was shavings but it was just bubbles. I thought it was shavings but I guess it wasnt. Dunno how simple air bubbles felt "gritty". As in your earlier post. Something does not not stack up here. Are you lifting my leg? Edited April 17 by Tinkicker Quote
RideWithStyles Posted April 17 Posted April 17 The only other thing I can think of if fresh water or moisture has been added to the oil but not mixed with it yet so metal / air and water separation /bubbles have started a three some but yet not finished doing the nasty and gone milky….. 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Could be something lost in translation but I don't seehow air bubbles can be mistaken for metal filings. Surely you touched it and rubbed it between your fingers. Any metal would be immediately obvious as would bubbles. Confused I am. Quote

I've been driving the bike and the dipstick is now clear with no bubbles either, the owner wasnt using the bike so not sure. It drives perfectly fine, fixed the oil leak as it was leaking from the drain bolt, was very loose. Leak free and oil is clear, I didnt even change it yet. When wiping the dipstick with my fingers I don't feel anything and oil is still yellow so still OK. I noticed coolant was slightly below minimum though, Topped it up and we'll see. Coolant was clear no oil mixed with it, can they mix oil with water like car engines? Edited Monday at 08:59 by krm712 2 Quote

My only concern is, some whining from the rear wheel when moving the bike by hand, also when driving and letting go off the throttle when driving it makes it as well. Do you have any idea if its normal? Quote

RideWithStyles Posted Tuesday at 18:07 Posted Tuesday at 18:07 (edited) So what would would be happening is the air is being sucked in from underneath (the drain plug) and created the air bubbles. now this is just me and OCD but id change the oil just to be safe….its only a litre. The whirling will be from the cvt trans and gearbox (well the belt), its normal. Edited Tuesday at 18:12 by RideWithStyles Autocorrect bs 1 Quote
bud Posted Tuesday at 20:02 Posted Tuesday at 20:02 The CVT drive face has a fan on it. It can make a noise when coming off the throttle. But if it's definitely coming from the rear wheel, check the wheel for play in the bearings. Quote
