Guest Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) PLEASE TAKE NOTEAugust 5th is the Family Fun Day at Chester Race Course. This is the biggest event on the calendar and often sees crowds in excess of 30,000.This could affect the ease of riding through the city, although a 10 am meet should be OK.I know there are local riders who will have a view to rideout routes, I have my own ideas http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=A51%2FBoughton+%4053.192370,+-2.878090&daddr=Unknown+road+%4053.179420,+-2.896780+to:Lache+Ln+%4053.157350,+-2.928310+to:Kinnerton+Rd+%4053.123430,+-3.033100+to:A550+%4053.142650,+-3.052010+to:A541+%4053.136160,+-3.081800+to:A5104+%4053.050360,+-3.211610+to:A542%2FHorseshoe+Pass+View+%4053.023090,+-3.204730+to:A525%2FWrexham+Rd+%4053.111700,+-3.305630+to:B5105+%4053.026120,+-3.560900+to:B4501+%4053.143920,+-3.462310+to:A550+%4053.155680,+-3.043210+to:53.186493,-2.856102&mrcr=11&mrsp=12&sz=12&mra=dme&sll=53.171061,-2.883224&sspn=0.088081,0.314827&ie=UTF8&ll=53.142652,-3.23822&spn=0.352559,1.259308&z=10&om=1Any other suggestions? Fazer Pete Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Probably be best to meet at the ponderosa then. I should be bringing gixxerguy and maybe any others who are coming from that direction.Could maybe leave the ponderosa and go to Ruthin via the Nant-y -Garth pass out the back of Ruthin back towards the A5 and head up to Bala lake Quote
Guest Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Probably be best to meet at the ponderosa then. I should be bringing gixxerguy and maybe any others who are coming from that direction.Could maybe leave the ponderosa and go to Ruthin via the Nant-y -Garth pass out the back of Ruthin back towards the A5 and head up to Bala lake That's a cracking route, but there is a suggestion of going to Woods of Abergele which would be a handy stepping off point for the A55 so the foreigners can get back o'er the Pennines.I was thinking of leaving Chester and going through Kinnerton, over the Llandegla moors to the Pondy and then out via Nant-y-Garth to Ruthin.I think it's the bit after that which is open to discussion/preference. techno Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 All sounds a bit foreign to me How about we go past aberyblah onto googlygohg and then stop for dinner at anhjfrihy after that am totally lost. Quote
Guest Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 That's a great ride out but it will put you too far from Abernalaff, also the road through Pen-y-forem is worth a thought. Quote
Guest Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 What do you guys want? Fast ride to enjoy the roads or a road to enjoy the scenery?Fast>Ponderosa, thru Nant, ruthin through Glocaenog Forest to Cerrig, then short blast down A5 to Pentrefoelas, up to Blwchau then on to Abegele via Llansanan.Once there probably best to go back thru St Asaph and onto mold where you can either jump back on A55 and catch back towards Cheshire and Also A483 towards Shrewsbury.Dont go through Chester, Just hop on A55 and grab the Junction at Dobshill to get up to Horseshoe Pass... Roads are great and I know them errm, quite well.Scenery> Same bloody roads http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=na ... 46,SNYG:en Quote
