  1. Awesome, thanks @Stu& @Gerontious I'll order something after Christmas.
  2. Regarding those flip-up little deflectors that attach to the top of the bike screen and can be angled up etc...... Are they any good, do they work? Also, I can still get a "double bubble" screen for my bike, does that extra profile make a difference too? Cheers
  3. Absolutely frickin gorgeous, congratulations
  4. Having bought a Monokey top box, because Monokey is printed on the pannier brackets, I've just changed the top box plate which turned out to be Monolock In my defence, there was nothing printed on the top plate, but I realised before the top box arrived.
  5. I actually enjoyed reading, not to long, but plenty of info. Interesting, and reassuring that they used stock bikes.
  6. Just when I thought I knew the simple stuff

    Hello!

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you have the best kind of first bike. You'll get to know it well as you give it TLC. Also, it's OK to talk to it, and give it a stroke and a pat.

    Welcome @mtm
  9. At least scrubbing those tyres in, gives you a good reason to go out for a ride when it's dry.
  10. I'll cancel my order then. I was going to get a custom one made to go atop my helmet, that way it'll keep me more prone so I don't get buffeted from the up-draught over my screen. I think I'll give it a miss though.
  11. My snood arrived today!!
  12. I just watched this video on helmets, and he states that tests were conducted about hearing whilst riding, and hearing is improved by earplugs. At about 9:20 https://youtu.be/4sTvakw-mlI
  13. I'm sure they've "done their stuff", but is it big enough to be effective?
  14. I was asking if maybe a wire was stuck/trapped by accident between metal parts and the metal may have cut through the wire without you noticing. You may have a connection the wrong way around?
  15. Wow, many, many thanks to you all for your time to reply, lots of info there @RideWithStyles it's much appreciated. I've got a load from when I was a computer hardware engineer and worked in datacentres. Thanks again folks.
  16. Until I put my deposit down a few weeks ago, and then started looking at all things bike, I'd never heard of anyone using ear plugs. I was thinking, "why on earth wear ear plugs, just enjoy the sound of the bike, and also, also, surely it'll be be safer if you can hear other road users?". Well, where did all that freaking wind noise come from? Even at 60Mph. I don't remember that at all. I'm now considering ear plugs, but at the same time, I want comm's in the summer.
  17. Hey guys, some very valid points made there. To (unknowingly) qualify the points made, I did loosen my trousers around the hips before my ride yesterday morning. Whilst it wasn't -1, it was still 4-6 drgrees. I did this because I thought being tight around the hips was reducing circulation, but of course, it would have been compressing the lining. It also made for a lot more comfort. As well as this, I put my boots on whilst sitting on a chair instead of standing, this meant everything was in the right place for riding, including how the trousers were strapped (Velcro) around the boot. Had a great ride for an hour.
  18. I went out this morning, it was 6 degrees and I never noticed the cold at all, but yes, if I start riding in weather any colder than that, I'll make a decent investment in thicker trousers. I must admit, I thought the £100 I paid for my trousers was a lot but looking around, they're "cheap". As said above, probably just need a decent thermal bare layer.
  19. It may be the connection itself, or, did you trap a wire and cut through during the install?
  20. Whaaaaaaaat, that's awful.
  21. I'd go with the£156 quote. Although it's just a couple of hours, it's 1/2 a day, or even a whole day that the transporter has to put to one side to do the job.
  22. Having just failed to zip my new jacket and trousers together, they're different brands, this is a good Idea. Thanks guys.
  23. Bulbs... Got my first bike in over 20 years home in the dark, and it was dismal. So, new pair of Halfords H4 150% brighter, and LED side light bulbs. Wow, what a difference! Also replaced a bulb in the speedo as I struggled to see the lower numbers, actually thought I was doing 60, but it turned out to be 25 (it's been a while)
  24. But I said coccyx, not c*ck....
