  1. Don't think my stance is at all harsh Joeman. How would you feel if one of your loved ones was hurt as a result of a phone user at the wheel and later died or be debilitated. There is no one forcing anyone to read the message or answer the call. Had a discussion about this just the other week and it seems people need to feel in contact and connected all the time, one person said they couldn't hear the call hands free and call may be important enough to take it. Fines are not sufficient to deter offenders, many years ago on a quiet Sunday before Christmas, I was stopped in my car for having one of those small Christmas trees visible at the front of my car showing a light other than a white light. £ 30 fine for that. Offer a real deterrent and people would think £1000 fine nah get the call later.
  2. Guy Martin does really well considering the difference in budget he has compared with other riders. He doesn't appear to bow down to the establishment and will do things his way. Would like to see the GP riders take on IOM without their run offs and gravel.
  3. There's not enough coppers around to catch phone users while they drive. What irks me is when I catch people on my camera or highlight the fact they are doing wrong, I get the finger or abuse. Have been threatened. Going to stick my neck out now...... I will have no sympathy for someone who seriously injures themselves or even dies as a result. The law is the law but users while they are driving think its acceptable like drivers stopping on double yellows while "I just pop in/to" or double park with hazards on.
  4. Remy you have it spot on. Thing is, the decision makers have had their chance time and again to get things right but they use their position for their own benefit and fail the nation. It's local election time again this week and already candidates are begging for votes around the doors and shoving their propaganda through my door. Britain needs to look after itself, lock the door and vote in some politicians that don't want to see this nation as Americas poodle. Get us out of the EU, its suffocating us all.
  5. Bought this last year, first time out since the winters end.
  6. I'll agree with Smokin Joe Mature women are more aware of the needs of themselves and there and aren't afraid to express themselves to get what they need
  7. Did my CBT last year year with A1 motorcycles in Gateshead. Went with them as the nearest test centre is right next door and they know the examiners well and know the routes they use for module 2. Anyway, on the day there four of us, two new to riding and myself and another lad had ridden before, seemed like the other does his CBT every two years for his 125. We registered, paid, had license checks etc. then safety lecture do's and dont's and shortly after out on the yard. They supply 'gear' to use, helmets gloves and jackets with a hi viz over for safety. The gloves, we were warned, were a bit sweaty and a bit smelly. A BIT??????? I scrubbed my hands or about 30 minutes when I got home and used bleach and I could still smell eau de sweat the day after. We had the walk around the bikes, Yamaha 125's, learnt the controls brakes etc, started up, instructed on clutch bite points amount of throttle for this and eventually selected first gear ant were allowed to travel forward and stop using rear brake only, then front brake then both. We did loops around the yard clockwise/counterclockwise, slow nd a bit faster, instructed not to look at the clocks "they won't tell you anything" look ahead where you want to be (very important and valuable advice). What seemed like about 1 hour or so later the two complete novices took a break and us other two went out on the roads, simple as that. Put intercoms on and of we go. I don't know all the roads around Gateshead and Swalwell but we rode around for some time here and there, various road types, roundabouts and junctions, got left behind at a junction in Team Valley but I know that place well and the instructor was still in contact by radio. When we got back he did say we both did well, I knew I had missed a couple of gears and didn't cancel indicators once or twice but for the first time in a long time I was chuffed. I was more amazed when the pass cert. was issued it seemed that easy. So if you are reading this and planning to do CBT good luck and relax and enjoy. Get gloves in advance ( I assume other instructors have minging gloves!!!) A1 at Gateshead are good lads with good banter. Not sure how girls would react but I suppose language would be moderated in their case.
  8. "having your cake and eating it"..... sounds good and we would all like that. Would people like their benefits (the cake) then work litter picking in disused railway cuttings and such like to work up an appetite to then eat the cake?
  9. Sorry Joeman, it looks like I've nicked your posting and used it as my own. Need to get a decent handle on Tapatalk
  10. That's the right attitude to take when out of work and looking for a start In life. The conversation has moved on from cuts to unemployment...... some good views here though. Most in the UK would like to see a change to the system but that requires the electorate to vote for none on the mainstream parties and look for a party with the nerve to eat a sh1t sandwich instead of smoked salmon. We are all having to take the hit to bail out the financial industry and that means benefit claimants too.
  11. If I'm allowed y thoughts....... It's not necessarily the workshy attitude that's the problem with this country, it's the welfare system that consecutive governments kick about as it always seems to be reformed. The Conservatives view the system as being wasteful in its current guise and is counter productive in that it offers no incentive to contribute to society by earning a living. I'm sure we would all like 25k for nothing and not to even lift a finger for it either. Most workers don't clear that amount as a gross income then see what they have disappear with the taxes they pay to fund state spending. Blame Gordon Brown, he seemed to have the attitude of all things for all people (true Labour socialist), no one should be without a reasonable standard of living, "we'll take good care of you so vote for us". A reasonable standard of living shouldn't include the luxuries of life, no SKY, no mobile phone contracts for the family, fags booze and scratch cards. Three things are required in life, essentials if you like ....... food, clothing and shelter. These could be provided for at a far less cost than what some families have gleaned from the state in the past. Allow new council houses controlled by the councils. Vouchers for food, balanced meals only please. Clothing grants (anyone remember them many years ago for school uniforms?) There seems to be no shame these days for not working and accepting handouts, I was out of work a long time ago in THATCHERS reign and felt as though people could tell and it didn't feel good. Nowadays though you cannot tell the difference with those in/out of work. Some benefit claimants I know of have more in life than I do but my head is held high I can afford for my 2 kids to go to Uni and am debt free.

Get rid of this Siac, release him into the night to be snatched by MI6 or some other covert team to be transported to Jordan. UK Government denies involvement. End.
  13. Trying nav free on and off at the moment in the car seems alright can download maps for UK Europe and beyond. Gave Google a go had to select areas in map to cache then plan a route but that was the actual map application not the navigation app.
  14. Does anyone do this and if so do you use Googles software or 3rd party?
