  1. My headlights are playing up. They will only work on full beam theres nothing on main beam at all. I have checked the bulbs they are fine and run through the wiring and there is nothing amiss there that I can see so I am really at a loss as what to do! Anyone got any ideas? It would also appear that my old bike has been in a major accident at some point with all sorts of damage under the fairing that I wasn't aware of Looks like a right mess under there! So if you could all shout any ideas at me it would be much appreciated
  2. Well now its all stripped down I think I might spray the wheel the right colour...the back one is silver and the front black, now wheres that spray can...
  3. I ended up doing just that and all of them came out bar one which I had to drill out in the end. I am sure the last person to put those discs on used a tube of locktite on each and every thread!
  4. OK then all of you knowledgeable folks if I could pick your brains for a moment... Whats the best way to remove you front brake discs for replacement? Mine seem to have seized solid to the wheel and I cannot even get the alan key bolts out that hold the disc to the wheel! Any ideas are much appreciated!
  5. I use the wax based stuff...seems a little less messy.
  6. "Count just the side plates" What are side plates? Probably a daft question but hey I have no idea here lol
  7. Thanks again folks you have been a big help yet again!
  8. Cheers folks. Can you possibly post a link to the type of tool please...being a tool myself I don't want to buy the wrong thing!
  9. Hey guys can I pick your brains for while please. The chain on my GSX600f is about all stretched out so I suppose I best be sorting it asap. Now how do I go about this? Does the new chain come with the correct amount of links in? Will it be split so I have to fit the master link? Whats the best advice for removing the old sprockets? I know my way around car mechanics but have never had to change a bike chain before! Are there any special tools I need as well? Thanks folks in advance for your help!
  10. The knob in the John Lewis truck who nearly knocked me off by changing lanes with no indication or even an attempt at looking behind himself...the KNOB in the Merc who pulled out in front of me from a side street causing me to swerve into the wrong lane thankfully not hitting anyone but the King of the Clowns today goes to the twat in the Corsa who sat 6 inches off of my back wheel for 2 miles at 70 mph.
  11. My knob of the day award goes to the driver of a blinged up W reg 206 hatchback who thought he could take on an articulated truck and win. This dick undertook me on the M62 in road works then pulled out in font of me missing my front bumper by an inch and only missing it because I had seen the knob coming and started to ease off! Why do folks see artics as a challenge to get by? The reason we keep so much space around us is because we bloody need it to either a) get the bloody things around turns or b) Need that F*cking space to stop the 44 ton lump of metal and load! This takes some time and doesn't happen in 10 feet! Jeez no-one will ever come off well in a crash with a truck including the driver of it and if we were not so on the ball all the time there would be more deaths of idiots on the road....maybe we shouldn't be so damned nice and do the world a favour!
  12. Todays nomination is to the wonderful taxi driver who decided that the laws concerning red traffic lights didn't apply to him at the crossroads and shot straight over the junction nearly having me off of the bike whilst blowing on his horn and giving me a dirty look. Unreal...another driver who got their licence from poundland.
  13. We are male...what are "instructions"?
  14. Nob of the night goes to "Mr white van man" who decided it was ok to anchor on his brakes in the country lanes around here. Turned out there was a turning for a driveway he wanted but wasn't bothered about me behind him, the oncoming artic that pinned us behind him or the driver that nearly gave me a colonoscopy with the front end of her corsa. In the rain as well the git, I had to change me pants when I got in
  15. Bugger. You daft Bugger I have never done anything daft like that (he says looking sheepishly the other way and sliding out of the room) Good luck with the op all this will soon enough be a good story over a beer
  16. Don't want to spend a fortune Stu but theres no point in buying some rubbish that you end up replacing in five minutes! I use the bike everyday so I suppose I should treat it right but it is a hack! I am saving to get something nice to play with too Limited budgets as well with 4 happy kids being raised and payed for...
  17. Loving the fact im riding most days for work come rain or shine but the discs on the front aqre pretty thin and im sure the pads are rubbing as well. Thinking the calipers could do with a clean up etc but new discs and pads would be a good idea but the bloody cost Where do you folks buy yours from?
  18. I will do it at the next MOT then...maybe before
  19. K&N sounds the way to go to me! How do you drain the oil with the fairings on? Is the sump plug uncovered underneath then? Quite right too! Best to keep on top of these things
  20. How often does everyone change their oil? Looking for a general census mine was supposedly done just before I bought it (GSX600F) but it never came with a manual and the manual I ordered has mysteriously not arrived off of Ebay. So folks how often do you and is it an easy enough job ie do the filters get stick on like on cars? (I've had more hours fight those bloody things than I care to remember!)
  21. Thanks for that new lever is now ordered
  22. Yet another question! My GSX600R has been dropped at some point by the previous owner and the front brake lever is pretty bent and has some wiggle movement on it. Now is it easy enough to change one of these and if so whats the best way to go about it? Thanks again folks for your help in advance.
