  1. I do not like this post!!!

I thought BMWs didn't break down. Let me know what the cause is, just in case. Aside from that, I asked at my local BMW if we were getting a recall about this fueling problem that they are recalling for in the US, but told not yet, but my bike has apparently missed a brake recall, hanging on to see if I can get both done together to save taking it in twice. Has yours been recalled for this and do you know what it is? Can't be too serious.

  2. Count me in. I'm commuting on it this week, anytime its not actually pi---ing down or freezing, I can make Rivington in around 30 minutes, and quite happy to potter in company, I'm definitely not a speed freak. Got a birthday party this Sunday, also usually available Saturdays, unfortunately also many Thurs & Fridays as only working part time at the moment. (Not my choice)

  3. Also labelled Sports VDC. As promised on other thread "alternative to GoPro", here are my first impressions.

The camera is very compact and the waterproof case seems very good. There are lots of bits to mount it in various ways, and in the house it works pretty well. The instructions, however, are useless and it took a lot of experimenting to work out how to do the basics like set the time/date, and set it to record continuously rather than one of the "loop" features. It will record in3/5/10 minute loops, but its not the last 10 minutes, it does 10 minutes and restarts, so you lose the first loop immediately. Not good. It says you can recharge and video at the same time. I have been unable to do so, every time I plug it in it switches to "webcam or mass storage" choice. I am not very IT minded, so it might just be me (shut up Alex), and like I said, the instructions are useless.

The video off the bike is not worth loading onto here, its the mount not the camera, with far too much vibration to produce anything watchable. I'm trying various places on the bike but have not found an answer. I'm not sure if I will be able to bike mount it without getting XS vibration, or whether I'll have to wear it mounted on me, but I really was hoping to avoid this. Any comments on bike mounting without the shakes will be appreciated.

Will post more when I've had a bit more practise, and hopefully some video

  4. I'm on a 1200rt se. The k1200 is too big to use for commuting, I leave the panniers in the garage and the top box carries all I need for work. Its a nice ride I imagine, I remember looking at one many years ago, liked the vanity case topbox with the mirror so she can sort out her helmet hair. :D

  5. 1st ride of the year, just a quick run over to BMW to sort out the recall on the fuel pump - USA only so far, they're still deciding whether to fix ours or let us explode, discovered 2 interesting bits tho', my bike missed a recall on the rear brake pipes while with the previous owner, but it was SORNed for 2 years, and the sound system is a £1000 extra! I thought it was standard on the SE model, happened to be drooling over a newer one in a lovely shade of blue and noticed the radio was missing. Also picked up an adaptor for the 12v supply to convert it to standard cigarette lighter socket so I can plug in my video camera when it arrives from China. Braced myself for the price but not too bad as not a BMW bit, supplied by 3rd party so £13, still a lot for 1 plug 1 socket and about 10 inches wire between.

  6. Hi, I had a similar problem when I started - I dont know how long you've been going - and I was told unequivocally by the Honda mechanic that it was caused by not changing gear properly, by not allowing the gear lever to drop all the way down after changing from 1st to 2nd, the next change up doesn't engage properly, and drops out a few seconds later. More care on the changes solved the problem for me.

  7. Many congrats on superb event, too far for me but next year we'll do the M60 round Manchester. Any other NW riders up for it? Julia, please can I have any info possible on how you organised it, raised money etc. I am prepared to get seriously involved for next year, anyone else ready to join me and help?

  8. Don't knock chinese bikes, I got a 125 to learn on, came crated for £700 brand new, 2 evenings to assemble. Only time I pushed it home was when the rear tyre blew. Sold it for £650 after I passed my Direct Access (old rules)

  9. What a great day. Couldn't count the bikes out of Knutsford, have to measure the miles from end to end. Great time at the NMA. Generally well organised and marshalled, shame about the few arrogant self important t--ts queue jumping the exit line afterwards. Really winds me up, riding little bikes fit for kids.
