I had a convo with an mot tester a while back - the newest guidelines on lighting are open to interpretation. Generally the concensus seems to be that aftermarket led units are mostly ok if installed correctly.

Aftermarket Hid units are usually an automatic fail.

Still not definitive, but might help you a little.

How long would it take to do a quick swap over for the MOT if it didn't pass?

Unfortunately a while because I've disassembled the whole front end of an originally faired bike to do it haha

My CBR900RR cafe racer/streetfighter project is in full swing after some storm related damage!

I have been looking at headlights, but for the life of me cannot find any definitive guidance on whether a certain headlight would pass MOT. I have googled it to death and checked the MOT guidance to no avail.

What I need to know is this: If I fit this headlight to my motorcycle, which I think looks really cool, will it pass the MOT? I understand the yellow colour is acceptable, but I cannot find a way to figure out if the beam pattern would be.

Are there any wise folk among you that have come across something like this before?

The "crash bar" is a frame part that holds the mirrors and screen steady

On that note, the mirrors are totally disgusting and out of place. I’m almost certain they’ve been replaced after a mishap!

Thanks for all the kind comments, she was a great find! The exhaust is actually aftermarket I believe, the brand is Remus, but it sounds good without being too loud.

The crash bar is interesting, I think it must be an original part, it seems to be pretty integral part of the bike but I could be wrong.

I rode her for around 300 miles straight from the dealership and she didn’t skip a beat, but you do have to be very positive with the shifter! Lots of character though, doesn’t feel like a mundane production line machine at all!

Morning everyone,

I’ve been away from the forum for a while as I had to get rid of my bike due to financial constraints! The exciting news is that from tomorrow I am back on two wheels!

I am collecting a 1995 Honda CBR900RR and she is a beauty ! I have taken her for a test ride but I am making a maiden voyage from Kirkcaldy to Aberdeen tomorrow to get used to the bike.

I got mine from R&G, good solid bit of kit, I couldn't have installed it by myself though, there's some fiddly bits that benefit from an extra pair of hands.

This is my layman's review of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 KRT 2017 with 1000 miles on the clock as of today.

I bought it new just over a month ago on PCP for around £6500 with R&G crash bungs and 12V power socket thrown in.

Good points:

1. Looks absolutely beautiful, haven't had a chance to go anywhere nice enough to warrant a photo and my commuting renders her a constant filthy mess. Don't expect a superbike, it is a sports tourer tarted up to look like one

2. In my opinion, fits into the sports tourer bracket and as such is comfortable in all environments. Long first gear for slow filtering is ideal and 6th gear takes speeds above legal in it's stride (on private land with the landowner's permission). Surprisingly upright position for it's looks, but still lets you tuck behind the (adjustable) windscreen for less wind blast at higher speed. Easy to adjust your position on the seat to avoid butt ache.

3. Clear and useful info display including gear indicator, fuel consumption/range, odo/trip. Good backlight makes it easily seen at night.

4. Insanely bright headlights, high beam about as bright as a thousand suns

5. Decent stock mirrors (compared to the atrocities on my KTM anyhow!)

6. Cruises comfortably at 4-6k rpm, goes like the clappers 7k+

Bad points (I must stress these are just minor thimgs for balance, this bike is near perfect):

1. Some vibrations through the hardest section of the seat at just below 5k rpm - Solution: Don't use the hard part of the seat during prolonged periods at the exact rpm that causes the vibrations

2. Somewhat jerky 2nd gear, I've found that it is better to stay in 1st at lower speeds

2. Screen can't be adjusted without the toolkit which seems an unnecessary faff

I have zero regrets and would 100% re-buy this bike over it's competitors. Feel free to ask any questions!

Note to organiser of challenge: The Banbury Cross waypoint is not actually accessible as it is in a pedestrianised area contrary to google maps, a bit too far to push the bike without looking like a nutter haha

I've got the Octavia VRS, same engine and chassis as the Golf.

It puts a smile on my face every time I give it the beans, but it has been mapped to 225 bhp with the N112 and N249 delete, mushroom air filter and full stainless with decat. Sounds like a jet engine when it comes on boost.

Aren't mushrooms a bit delicate for an air filter?

I have one main riding buddy and we are on the lookout for some quality compact Bluetooth headsets.

The main criteria would be:

1. Comms between the two of us

2. Bluetooth phone connectivity for directions/music for longer trips

Sena seem like a good brand, what are everyone's experiences? Also, I am having trouble wading through the catalogue to find the most cost effective solution that covers the criteria above!

Just to be completely unhelpful, I actually use more engine braking than anything else approaching a corner and then just control with throttle throughout the bend because to me it feels more stable that way
