  1. Thanks guys. There is an earth in th old rose GOG but it is connected to the ceiling bracket which I shall be taking off and connecting to the earth on the new rose. It is a new house, only ten years old. No guarantee that everything was wired correctly though Appreciate your help. Thanks.
  2. ... I have two new ceiling rose's I need to fit in our living room. One of them is straight forward with just the live, neutral and earth wires but the other is more complex. I think I know what I need to do but want to get some confirmation from someone who knows 100%. Is the drawing of what I am proposing correct? The right hand drawing (scribbles) is the connections in the new rose and the left hand drawing is the connections in the ceiling. The numbers in the right hand drawing is where I propose to put the cables from the ceiling. Hope this makes sense. I would very much appreciate any help before I blow myself up or worse create a fire and hurt my family. key: B = Brown b = blue

Oh kids are the worse. Nothing shameful about having a tear, Ollie. I openly admit to shedding a drop or two on occassions. I don't subscribe to the men don't cry bullshit.
  4. Oh dear ... Shit bit of luck.

I agree, Ollie. I feel, don't know what to call it, something everytime I hear that another human has died in anyway other than natural causes, regardless of their nationality. Even more uncomfortable when it is at the hands of a 'fellow' human being. Both 'fellow' and 'human being' used loosely. When someone we know dies, even if only through the entertainment world, they have in some minor or major way influenced our lives. I grew up with songs from Elvis Presley and when I heard about his death while walking to work I has most definitely affected. It was difficult to focus for the rest of the day. People deal with death in so many different ways and I don't think that it is right to criticise anyone for the way they deal with the situation. Doesn't matter if they are sincere or attention seeking, people aren't stupid and the truth always comes out somehow.

Turned out quite nice again ... aint it?
  7. Petrolhead just got his license. Anyone want to talk to him?
  8. Nothing to do with your past, Petrolhead, but I have been against guns in any form since my RAF days of the 70/80's. While serving in NI in 1981, I had heard of a young lad, about seven or eight I think, who was shot dead by a soldier patroling the Belfast streets. The little lad did what most little, immature, unthinking lads do and jumped out of a doorway with a toy gum pretending to shoot his mates. A soldier reacted instinctively and shot him. Virtually everyone I know says I over-react but since my first child was born, same year 1981, I will not allow them to have toy guns. I too grew up around shotguns. My Dad and my Uncle both owned and used them.
  9. I force my wallet, phone, keys or whatever I have in my leathers or I leave them home. Bum bags are not for me
  10. Installed mine and so far everything is working. I am using defender though. Don't see the point of wasting money on other virus software when defender is available for free and is perfectly good. I like the look so far. Win 8 with Win 7 feel. I didn't like loosing the start menu so that is a big plus for me. So after an hour of using it ... happy days. Hopefully happiness will continue
  11. Bloody hell! You're a lucky man. Take it easy TC
  12. Oooh! Now I am extremely open minded but I have to draw the line at beastiality
  13. Didn't notice you on FB ... What name do you use?
  14. Looks like all the best people have their birthdays on this day
  15. I started when I was nine. By the time I left school at fifteen I was smoking twenty a day and gave up, cold turkey, nearly ten years ago. Best thing I ever did. Thirty years of smoking didn't do my respitory system any favours.
  16. ... then you got chinese motorbike and now you're on 60 a day! lol
  17. If it doesn't work, Stu, I'll do exactly that. Hopefully it is now sorted though.
  18. Decided to try something. Took the connectors off and sprayed WD40 over the pins and in the connectors. Then squeezed the connectors a bit with pliers and replaced them. Light seems to work again. Will check again tomorrow but looks like another quick job sorted. Thanks.
  19. Aha ... dodgy connection. I shorted the wires and got a light. Put the connectors back on and tested gain ... no light. Then I noticed that sometimes I got a quick flash when I pulled the lever so I held the lever in and wobbled the connections and I got the light come on and off. It's going to be pissing buckets here tomorrow so maybe Tuesday or Wednesday I'll take a look at it.
  20. Cheers mate ... that is very usefull. Looked at mine and the connectors appear to be inplace ok. If I pull the brake lever, I can hear the clicking of the switch but no light so is that telling me that the switch is fooked or the switch is OK and I need to look elsewhere?
  21. ... but then I'm the king of stupid questions. Where is the brake light switch for my front brake? My brake light isn't coming on when I apply the front brake. EDIT: to correct some patheticly poor English.
  22. Sorry, Ollie. If I had have known I would have gone in the car. Had a great week. picked up a few tags too. All ten in Cornwall and four others in and around Exmoor plus one in Dorset. All in all a nice fifteen tag week. Pics going up soon.
  23. Going to Perranporth. Thanks guys. Will be collecting some tags and maybe a beer or three. I'll try to upload tags as they happen ... assuming I can get an internet connection.
  24. ... and I intend to enjoy a relaxing week with the family. Well, apart from the couple of days when I might get out on the bike. Oh did I forget to mention that the missus is taking the kids down in the car and I am taking the bike.
  25. While I am here Stu, I am thinking of using my phone and bluetooth connectivity until I get a dedicated headset. As tecnology is not my strong point, do you know if this will work? Thinking turn bluetooth on on both devices and voila! But probably not that simple.
