  1. Eventually managed to fit the scotoiler today, with the help of a mate. I fitted the unit behind the number plate inside the rear mud guard as this was one of the suggestion by scotoiler. The way that it is fitted I have to remove the reservoir to fill it up and to remove the reservoir I have to disconnect the feedpipe. This causes air to get into the system. Any suggestion how I am able to get this air out with the unit in situ? Currently the trapped air is not allowing the oil to flow. Cheers.
  2. Saves me having to scroll through the pics to find the numbers.
  3. Ok, so we know that some Grumpy Old Git is probably going to be at the top of the challenge leader board but, is there a way of listing the points so that we can see who we are chasing? Might inject a little competition and make things a little more interesting. Apologies if this rediculous idea has already been considered and rejected.
  4. Congrats Fozzie. Promotions are always best when they come out of of the blue.
  5. The guilty party instigating divorce is common. That way she doesn't have to have her shit dragged through court.
  6. Sorted. It was indeed a doddle. Pulled back the rubber and cleaned off the plunger. Lots of WD40 and rubber back on. Works a dream. As Stu said, it was a doddle!
  7. Absolutely nothing! I'll slow down, make eye contact and maybe even nod (I do this on the bike and no-one sits there wondering what I am doing) but flashing the headlights will be seen by everyone and because so many people don't know how to drive/ride safely, many see it as a signal to them that means 'go on it's safe'! As such, the flashing of the headlights isn't the problem. The problem is the way they are recieved and then acted upon. If EVERYONE used these signal, including hazard lights, in the way they are supposed to be used we would have a lot less accidents. The problems occur when people decide to change the rules and meaning of signals to suit themselves. As I said, even the police flash the headlights, and they should know better, so the safest way is go back to basics and use them correctly.
  8. Both of them. You are either employed or self employed. Sounds like they are trying to save themselves some money while getting you to do their job.
  9. Or popping into the shop in Liverpool and leaving the bike outside...
  10. At least I will get to one without breaking down and I will know how to fix it That's my concern. If I were to break down I probably wont be able to fix it. Thank God for AA, RAC, or your favourite rescue company.
  11. I know someone, an ex friend, who did exactly that. She wanted a new car so just waited, and waited, then eventually the opportunity arose. She claimed the for car, psychological distress and neck and back pain ... she absolutely milked it. That was the last straw in our friendship and we parted company soon after during her major gloating period and boasting how she got a new car and a holiday out of it!
  12. That's awefully polite ol' boy. I'm not sure people really are that polite!
  13. The official meaning is 'Warning, I am here' but I don't think that it is illegal, per sa, to use it as an invitation to emerge. Will happilly accept a correction if so. Not that it means anything but even the police flash to let people out of junctions!
  14. But they don't, CGD. Very few people use the flashing of headlight correctly. And too many see it as 'it's safe to go'
  15. ... but please, no death threats or hate mail. I call for flashing of headlights to be illegal! Coming back from the school run fifteen minutes ago, I was driving up the busy A38 Gloucester Road in Bristol when some ar*ehole decided to flash his headlights to allow a car out from a side junction. The car promptly emerged ignoring traffic from my direction causing me to hit the brakes with such force that the ABS kicked in. And if that wasn't enough, the emerging car driver used the two finger sign to point to his eyes and mouth 'look where you're going you blind c**t' I was literally no more than twenty metres away from the junction, in fact, the ar*ehole who flashed was further away from the junction than I was! I shall now go and bury my head in shame for daring to be so controversial.
  16. Stu. Will take a look at this at the weekend.
  17. Thanks Stu If you have a minute Ollie, no panic though. Won't be looking at till the weekend. Keeping it on main stand until then.
  18. Ok guys, I left for work this morning and the bike stalled with the sidestand up. In fact, it stalled several times. When I put the sidestand down and then back up it started ok. Leaving work it happened again. Took a few minutes of putting sidestand down and back up before it worked. I am assuming that there is some kind of switch on the sidestand? What am I looking for and what should I be looking to do? Is it a clean, adjustment or replacementof switch?
  19. My wife works for LV and they require every incident to be reported. As in actual incident like scratched on the gatepost reversing in not bulb blown or fuse blown. Even if no claim is made it then gives them a driving history on which to base any future quotes. I know not all companies want this but they often ask when you ring for a quote, any incidents claimed or not claimed. Maybe your ins company don't but LV and I know some others do.
  20. According to which statute? It might be a requirement under the contract of insurance between you and your insurer, but it's not a statutory requirement. Only time you need to involve insurers in my view is when there's a potential claim situation. Otherwise it's none of their business. That was badly worded Bogof, it may not be a legal requirement but insurance company require you to report all incidents regardless of whether a claim was made or not.
  21. Totally agree Guinnless except notifying the insurance company of even the slightest knock is a legal requirement and could be very costly if found out! I haven't reported every tiny little knock or scratch but I am supposed to!
  22. Aint there a song about that? 'It's all about the bike, 'bout the bike, no peddles ... My momma told me, don't worry about your bike. She said ... boys like a little more cc's to hold up right. I won't be no moped or pushbike rider man ... so if that's what your into then you can just move along. You know I'm all about the bike, 'bout the bike no peddles'
  23. You may well chose to file the invoice when the work is done but you only claim income on the Tax form when you receive it. It is not income till it comes in. As was said above though, make sure you claim your expencies in this Taxx year. It went out this year. Good luck.
  24. Ok, well if you come up with something and want a riding partner give me a shout. Assuming that I can get the appropriate time off work. Of course, a lot of this depends on what and how you plan to do this. But keep me in mind.
