  1. The mileage is about 10000 miles, it's a K1
  2. There's an rattle that appears between about 4k and stops around 6k, seems to be coming from the top of the engine some where, sounds like it's directly below the fuel tank. Maybe nothing to worry about but it bugs me. Started last weekend after a 300 mile trip
  3. For wheel alignment, if it's anything like cars I'd get a garage to do it. Shouldn't be too expensive, for a car you're like £10 a wheel....not sure on bikes though, never had it done
  4. Maybe it just doesn't look right because I've never had to do it before, it hasn't fell over yet so that's a boost
  5. Finally got my bike on to the centre stand tonight (feel like a hard man). Crushed my foot in the process but hey ho! I've engaged the steering lock while it's on centre stand but it just doesn't look quite right, is it OK to do this. Probably a daft question but I've never owned a bike with a centre stand before!
  6. Cool so probably best just leave them be! Are the kei hin carburetors standard for suzuki bikes or has someone put them on?
  7. What is it? What does it do? Should I play with it? http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd448/jojo-clyro/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0087.jpg
  8. Passed module 2 today in Aberdeen with no rider faults! Although I did ride through an amber light and the examiner got stuck at the red, but he priased me for it and said I was thinking ahead and it would've more dangerous to emergency stop. Got to ride a lexmoto 125 all the way back into tow afterwards. Not so good! Didn't feel very safe at all! Thanks to al_stu for clearing up some issues with roundabouts last night, helped alot!
  9. Got the mod 2 test tomorrow, had a good days practice today, but I kept making mistakes on which shoulder to check on the roundabouts? Can anyone help out?
  10. Passed mod 1 today in Aberdeen, 1 minor (to slow through avoidance). Nailed it on second attempt. Mod 2 on Wednesday
  11. Thanks guys, I was there for 3 hours, my friend went into the shop but I never, the car park was near empty. I'm going to hang fire for now and not respond and if the continue to contact me I'll open an appeal. Thanks for all your advice!
  12. I recently received a letter via the post saying I had over stayed my welcome in the local super market carpark (in my car). Which I did do, I was longer than two hours. £85 is what they are asking. I have heard from many people not to pay as this can't be enforced upon you. I plan to ignore this and not pay. It was 9pm on a Friday evening, the carpark was empty! Has anyone had any experience with parking eye before?
  13. After some routine chain maintenance I've noticed a few splatters of lube on the back tyre, does anyone know how to get this off. It's the WD40 Chain lube stuff
  14. I've been to check my sprockets from time to time to ensure there not wearing and so on . I'm new to bike maintenance so I'm not sure what to look for. A couple of pics http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd448/jojo-clyro/Mobile%20Uploads/20140712_142833.jpg http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd448/jojo-clyro/Mobile%20Uploads/20140712_142844.jpg
  15. I used to ride on the back of dads bike when I was about 6/7 up and down the hill, was only about half I mile but I loved it! Even if he was only doing about 30mph!
  16. I use snow foam on my car, think I could use it on the bike? Or will it strip oil from the chain?
  17. I'm a car cleaning enthusiast, now I have a bike I'm unsure on the correct way of cleaning. Any open threads or advice on bike cleaning? Thanks
  18. I did a bit of research on them when I was looking for a bike and everyone says the are cracking bikes, just a bit small for my build
  19. Beware : long read! So I had my cbt last Sunday at CMS Aberdeen, the sun was shining although there was a breeze which later picked up quite a bit! It was the cup final day for Aberdeen so I was hoping the roads would be nice and quiet! I arrived about a hour early to meet a guy redoing his cbt, smoked a few cigarettes and got a few tips off him as I'd never rode a bike before as we waited for the instructor to show up. The a young Irish woman came along .... also on her own bike and also resitting her cbt. This made me worry, thinking, oh crap! I'm the only guy here that can't ride! A few minutes later 2 instructors turned up and I was told that one instructor (Phil) was all mine for the day! Phew! The other 2 went off and started doing laps round the set course and away off on the road. Me and Phil went into the wee hut, Sat down and gave him my car liscence, money etc and spend about an hour going over theory and what we were going to be doing throughout the course of the day. We went out, had a look around the bike I was going to be riding ( lexmoto arrow 125) which looked ok. He explained the centre stand to me and made me take it on and off, which took me a while, I couldn't get me head around not using your arms to lift but instead to use your foot as a lever thing, I still don't quite get but hey ho I did it few times and he was happy and said we would be using the side stand for the rest of the day. We had a walk round the bike and he explained all the controls and regular checks that you should do which was all pretty straight forward. Of I went! Some slow straight riding using the back brake to slow down and then the front, clutch control etc which came to me quite easily, then around in big circles stopping when he put his hand up. Next we practiced pretend junctions, which meant using indicators and lifesavers which was all quite tricky to remember along with braking, clutch and balance but I soon got the hang of it although I did keep forgetting to cancel the indicators. Then onto slow manoeuvres, figure 8s which I nailed first time so we didn't do that much and through some cones. Stopped for lunch and a bit more theory. Free riding for half an hour in the yard, doing anything I wanted, which was really good, felt really relaxed and even got up to third gear! ! This gave me bags of confidence and after a small chat we were going out on the road! Pulled out of the yard and instantly got told to speed up! I was doing 15mph but it felt like 100! After a few minutes I was used to it and relaxed a bit again. Riding round a built up area, using junctions and roundabouts was a little stressful but ok. Then I really got on it! 20 minutes in and I was totally at one with the bike, apart from canceling indicators but I soon started remembering. We rode out of the town a bit and in to a 50 zone where Phil said "GO ON! OPEN HER UP! FEEL THE WIND IN YOUR FACE! which I did and it felt amazing! Even though the bike was rattling like hell! Practiced some U-turns and a emergency stop, which a buggerd up but he said it wasn't too bad and I didn't have to do it again. Back into the town, round some huge round abouts and some uphill starts and he said back to the yard. Driving back I was getting bullied by car drivers not letting me in lanes etc, but Phil sorted them out and let me pull in infront of him which was good. Got back, had a yap and got my certificate, was buzzing all the way home! Would definitely recommend CMS! Now hunting for a bike!
  20. So, I've decided to go all out and do the DAS, I'm booking my theory in the next couple of days hopefully for the end of February when I get home from offshore, then in a couple of months do a 5 or 6 & 1/2 day intensive training course then mod 1 & 2 hopefully not long after. Planning to buy preferably a Honda vfr400 or secondary choice a Kawasaki ninja 400, but my heart is set with Honda as I've owned 3 Honda civics and loved every one because they just keep going no matter what you throw at them (except brick walls ) and I hear the bikes have similar characteristics! I get to save a bit of cash as I'm getting some gear off the old man, jacket, trousers, gloves and a one piece suit he bought in his slimmer days I'm 5' 10" and I hear the vfr400 is a small build of bike, you think I will fit on? ?
