This bike security any good?
rice-pudding replied to a topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Hi rice pudding lol, Where would i find some of these chains and roughly costs? Just go to some lifting/rigging company, probably not much than a tenner for a metre, maybe even free if they have some scrap bits lying around -

I work in the lifting industry and work with chains alot. I use a length of 16mm GD100 lifting chain for securing my bike at home and that stuff is hard enough to cut with a cutting disc, let alone cutters! Visit your nearest rigging company and you'll get beefy chain dirt cheap! -
I had a s3 and it was good for around 1 year, then it started going down downhill, battery was crap and apps were incredibly slow and the screen started to darken. I've had my Sony z3 for almost 2 years now and it's still almost like brand new, if I don't use it alot a get 2 days battery! Which is good for todays phones. I would avoid Samsung from now on, having to charge the battery twice a day isn't for me!

Haha, well I got the bike for free and spend about 50 quid on it so I'm £150 up! -

Oh well, that'd didn't last long, sold yesterday for 200 notes to fund the wedding Delete the thread if you like because there will be no more updates -
I'm getting a shot of a car so it's all good now. I just hate wheel bearings after my friends wheel and hub fell off in the middle of the town
-
So last Thursday I noticed a whining from the wheels and I've narrowed it down to the n/s front wheel bearing. It's quite noisy over 30-40 mph, my question is how long can a drive with it, I intend on repairing it at the weekend but I need to get to work (approx 120 miles in total) for the next 3 days! The bandit is out of action too with no MOT or insurance for a couple of weeks so that's not an option. Pulling my hair out a bit! Don't want to cause an accident!

We got new windows fitted today in our council owned house by contractors hired by the council. The work done is fine but prior to them being fitted we had to remove the window blinds. I placed all the blinds on my bed to keep them straight. So I've arrived home and they have dumped stuff all over the blinds and the are creased, damaged and tangled up. I understand they have to move stuff to gain access but to dump it all over blinds?? It's obvious little respect was taken when they have been at work. Where do I stand here? Can I file a complaint? Will I get new blinds?! Thanks in advance from a grumpy biker with new windows and broken blinds!

I've had my eye a MT-07 for a while too, so the money I'd save could go towards one of them. Probably be more fun too! I hate liking cars as much as I like bikes! Might just get the diesel guzzler remapped, that should throw on an extra 30bhp and tide me over till I fancy somthing new....again.

I just spied it in a garage in the passing so I haven't even seen it up close yet. I'm just spectical about buying from a dealer as I don't who owned it before!

I was days away from buying a immaculate 55 plate EP3 Type R, the thing was really well looked after but it was sold by the time I got time off work. I've owned 3 Civics in the past and they are a blast aswell as super reliable. The Integra is where my heart lies but I'll keep on dreaming haha. It's a 2008 Ibiza TDI sportrider I've got at the moment, it's good, bags of tourqe, feels built for a track but I've never "bonded" with it....if you know what I mean
-
Haha thanks guys, I've done some research and it doesn't look good, the thing drinks 1 litre of oil for every 1000 miles and a 20mpg it will cost a fortune! Think I'll stick to the 60+ MPG diesel work horse now and spend the money on a bike in the summer
-
I'm thinking about trading in my DERV guzzler for a sporty rx-8. Looking for some advice though giving that they are rotary engined cars. Anyone owned one before? Is there any points to look out for as I know they need regular servicing and maintenance. It's a 2008 with 26k on the clock. Any advice welcome!

Just noticed you were from Aberdeen too, we must go ride one day....min

Fine looking bike there

Yeah, sounds like a battery. I just replaced mine on a totally dead bike and it solved alot of problems. I got a motobatt from eBay, gel filled and plug and play so no messing about with acid etc, good stuff!

How is it possible for this to work effectively with the engine running? It will be sucked into the engine and fired out before it even had chance to touch the sides, a strip got to be the only way Like throwing a sausage down a corridor
-
It just says on the tin, spray in to carb from the airbox side while bike is going and it will clean carb. I removed the carb as I didn't belive that it would clean as good as stripping it down. Depends how dirty the carb is I suppose.
-
All is working now, I took the throttle housing apart and the cable reel thing wasn't seated right. I'm just glad it's not a carb issue. Easy fix, thanks again guys
-
There's no throttle return, just the one cable. Will have a another look tomorrow, I'm just happy it idles at normal speed now, I think the neighbours were getting a bit peeved
-
I've narrowed it down to the throttle cable, I lubricated it a bit bow when I start it up it idles fine but when I twist the throttle the revs rise and won't drop back down. Think I'll have to remove the cable and have a good look at it

There's restrictions on what the brightness of bulbs can be and you can't fit certain bulbs without an auto light balancer but to be honest I've ran my car with 8000k HID bulbs and seen people run even brighter with no issues! Not sure about the MOT though, but for brightness HID is the way to go, you can get some pretty good standard bulbs aswell though
-
I'm thinking throttle cable may be the answer, the carb doesn't have an idle screw as such, just fuel and air mixture screws which I have tweaked with no results and I can't spot any air leaks, I'll try the throttle cable idea
-
Put the ybr all back together and after a couple of years she started up. The bike is idling really high, about 4-5k rpm, the carb settings are exactly the same as before cleaning and everything appears fine, when I cut the choke it still idles high. Can any one shed some light?
