  1. I have it but my iphone has decided it doesn't really like to do anything other than operate as a device for calling people and a as very average torch. Windows phone has to be better right .....
  2. Hunter

    Chrome Polish

autosol is abrasive so you might want to be gentle, i used to have a cruiser and autosoled the hell out of it and the chrome did not benefit from me being over eager. I use it if something hasn't been looked after for some time or when i first get a bike then use a non abrasive wax when its up to standard.
  3. well this project continues, i have had problems removing photos from my phone and uploading to photobucket so haven't updated for a while. After the valve cover bolt snapped in the cylinder head of the new engine (it passed compression test) it has become a bit of a rebuild with everything from new shock and powder coating to head gasket and valve clearances. I will update some more soon but with the engine not back in the bike yet it has my full attention...watch this space..
  4. when i was younger and less responsible myself and 3 friends managed to get a little 50cc up to 68mph hour downhill. it take a combined weight of all four of us and a tail wind but it got there
  5. With the fairing off the next item was the exhaust http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/Mobile%20Uploads/5218C911-F8C2-4219-A659-6F37F149EF4E_zpsbkt2vuwo.jpg The all cables and most of the bolts were removed and after a lot of jiggling and a minor hand fracture it was out http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/Mobile%20Uploads/800BF624-CE77-4739-98CE-1212866A3332_zpsj0w7gsxw.jpg So i spent some time checking over the new engine and decided to pull the plugs and found this http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/Mobile%20Uploads/CB508FFF-F994-464A-9080-353E4401D7B1_zps3o4aiq1v.jpg Surely not oil on the plugs again ! am i cursed or do I just worry too much ?. So after I have helped alan tomorrow to felt my garage / sorry his garage built for my bike we are going to pressure test the engine. If its junk then I will be throwing it back at the seller.
  6. So it continues I found an engine ! - somewhere north of london (clapham feels like the north to me) i picked up an F3 engine with half the miles of my current F2 so it was shoehorned into the boot http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/Mobile%20Uploads/4DEA0E07-FA1A-4CBF-86F4-9A934137845D_zpsv2a6hyr4.jpg http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/Mobile%20Uploads/E1A46358-D564-4AB8-8E8A-41A1264AF292_zpskcfo9oon.jpg it was then over to megawatt's brand new garage seemingly custom built for my bike to start the transplant. http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/Mobile%20Uploads/C3391F17-EB8F-4B57-8823-D9F513C5D41D_zpsdsowxfub.jpg http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/Mobile%20Uploads/FFE7FF11-B920-412A-97DE-2184B859AD20_zpsgeaydmup.jpg
  7. I hope your right, another £35 to throw in the bucket then, still better than rings etc.. i think i new engine would be cheaper. I think it shows a little lean which is correct given the popping when i decelerate.
  8. ok a bit of an update. everything has been great with the bike and Alan has been just awesome for putting up with my heap of crap and getting / keeping me on the road. So after riding it from kent to wiltshire and back I was really happy with the bike and decided to do valve clearances etc.. ( I say me I mean Megawatt). I did a quick coolant flush today and noticed oil in the coolant, i then noticed bubbles in the expansion tank. Great that will be the head gasket then. there is no milky mess in the oil or coolant so hopefully i caught it early but i will have the head skimmed any way. so i stripped off the carbs to put in the dynojet main jets and decided to pull the spark plugs to find oil on the threads. I'm not sure if this is actually oil (i am reasonably confident) but if it is I guess it is either the rocker valve gasket or worn rings etc... some pics are below but megawatt will no doubt be speeding round with a trailer at some point http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/plugs/IMG_0467_zpsa56cdabf.jpg http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/plugs/IMG_0468_zps14f587df.jpg any ideas ?
  9. a quick vid with a few revs, i live on a farm in the arse end of nowhere but there are a few other people who live here as well so i dont like sitting there revving away too much. its only 3k revs but still sounds excellent ">
  10. So after the nice new exhaust she runs even worse with surging and lack of go below 7k and a lot of popping every time i roll off. I was expecting this having put essentially a straight through system on the bike so the next major job will be a carb clean and re-jet. It is probable (apparently) that it is running lean which might be smoothed out by the adjusting the mixture screw. All of that said it does start, idle and sound like a different bike. I really am happy to just get on and ride until the performance bothers me enough. a few more pics that aren't that interesting or good but still. This is the rubber cover for the coils. Depending on if you believe the stuff on forums this can cause a loss of 10bhp as they air box is sucking hot air straight off the head. I'm not inclined to believe it but it should at least stop crap resting on top of the coils. http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/cbr600%20parts/DB63915D-7E79-409C-97A1-F0358AF1CC26_zpssixvbwhi.jpg some pics of the grab handle and horn after 4 coats of gloss black http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/cbr600%20parts/54762033-8F00-4826-8346-36B37A64DD15_zps9f5brilc.jpg http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/cbr600%20parts/BD68CE18-5DF7-4DB0-9B42-B1280691D93E_zpsipscda0d.jpg Again all credit to Alan who has been a shoulder to cry on and a constant source of P taking.
  11. a bit more of an update on the bike.. After buying the bargain end can it turned not be a complete bargain as the link pipe had been abused and had to be cut short. This had a double negative of creating a loose fit and pulling the can in too tight which means it was touching the swing arm. Problem solved by Mr Mega and a link pipe adaptor so perfectly made it sealed without a gasket. http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/exhaust/64961EDF-D241-40A5-9386-B034E5D009B0_zpspefrlku8.jpg Sorry about the dirty bike, the stainless headers were perfect and clean before going out in the horrible storm but hey i couldn't resist a ride. http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/exhaust/5674EC1C-4E36-480F-8A38-EA2C27591DB7_zpssvxdrbov.jpg with the new can on http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab307/JDHunter83/exhaust/049DC1AD-DEFD-410D-A396-BBDEA511A97F_zpsclwfyp9j.jpg as you can see it hangs just right as it were !
  12. I had one of these as a field bike when I was a kid. We used to put one on the tank and extend the seat with a bit of wood to accommodate three teenagers they were the days !
  13. are we talking about me or the bike ? rebalance with the new cool exhaust system together and we might even go for a ride out !! My other half is convinced i have sold the bike because it hasnt been here for weeks.
