  1. Lol, sounds like the dogs will have ate a burglar long before he makes it too the garage.
  2. Sounds good in theory, but you wont get the savings on your insurance that a branded ground anchor will give you. Plus scaffold tubing is quite easily cut with a grinder, and the preferred method of dealing with chains and ground anchors these days is too freeze them with a little canister of nitrogen, then shatter with a tap from a lump hammer, a 10 sec job. A lot of ground anchors and chains are made to be shatter resistant to combat this, as well as the ground anchors being very difficult to cut and having bits your hammer into the bolt holes which are (nearly) impossible to remove so they cannot be simply unbolted. Your method may deter an opportunist, but it sounds like you have an organised gang in the area, so I'd go all out. Also check the small print on your insurance, we had a couple of quads nicked out of the garage about 4 years ago, and they never paid out because they were not chained down, something they never told us, I suspect a lot of bike policies may be the same. Good luck with the project though if you go ahead with it, hope it all works out for you
  3. We got home safe and sound, "slightly" longer journey than expected, missed the M42 turn off on M5 and carried on down the M40 to A43 turn off before I realised lol. Was a fantastic weekend, look forward to the next one, and met some really great people (everyone that was there really) Hope to meet up with people soon
  4. Hey everyone, I'm trying to sort myself out with some small/med sized panniers for my bike (need to do it quite urgently as going on TMBF rally next week So I went to the dealer, who promptly told me all about the solid ones they could fit for a fortune, which i declined, and was offered the oxford soft 60 ltr panniers. I asked him to show me how they would fit on the bike before I would buy them, and hey ho they won't fit safely as they droop onto the back wheel. So I do some looking around and it turns out that I need to buy these from Yamaha http://www.yamaha-motor.eu/uk/products/ ... &year=2014 At £81.49 PLUS p&p. So I left the shop without panniers. I know this might sound tight as f#%* but after spending nearly 7 grand on a motorbike at a shop, I think its damn cheeky of them to ask for 80 odd quid for two short metal rods that bolt to the frame so I can use panniers, on a bike that they class as a sports tourer, fat lot of use it is for touring as standard that's for sure. Anyway, I'm ranting. Does anyone have any advice on what panniers I might be able to get that will just go straight on this bike, or do I have to suck it up and pay them for their glorified cut offs? Thanks
  5. Thanks littlecat, I was beginning to think as much, are them Kevlar lined jeans with padding in impact areas any good, in terms of safety and comfort wearing them all day? If it rains can just throw waterproof trousers over them. And wear a Rhino armored jacket, or something leather depending on budget
  6. Thanks for reply FQ, Commute will be about 45 miles, but during rush hour both ways.
  7. Hey Everyone, Bit new to this, and only just got bike. I am looking to get an armored oversuit for commuting everyday, something that doesn't look like a baggy sack tied in the middle and is really easy to put on and take off (while wearing jeans and t-shirt) and suitable for all weather (i.e. has removable insulation, etc). I have been looking around on the net, and it feels like I'm trying to buy a unicorn horn, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Andy p.s. also thinking of getting a helmet (well it's a necessity, so more than thinking about it) Looking at getting one where the full face lifts up, with built in bluetooth and mic/speakers for connection to phone for calls and music. Don't intend to skimp on price, as I only have one head, so I want the best, but I see some for £130 and others that look identical for £1000 and any price in between, any recommendations? Want a good one, but want to pay for quality, not a sticker if you get what I mean.
