  1. Deffo get cctv if you can, someone messing with tyres and brakes on a bike is pretty serious tbh can easily get you killed. Would have assumed a stone myself until you mentioned the other stuff. No point getting too worked up though till you've seen cctv with solid proof, otherwise your just guessing. Surely someone wouldn't be dumb enough to go slashing tyres in view of cctv? Hope you find something, let us know if you do!
  2. Sickening. I can't help but imagine my feelings as if they'd done it to one of my own loved ones. And the fact this mans family will be right now dealing with the fact that their son/brother/dad has been hacked to pieces by a pair of utter scumbags in front of hundreds of people on a london street. I can't comprehend the grief. Really truly feel for the family right now.
  3. Someone else wouldn't be able to turn my bike on because of the key barrel. Its got a nack to it. I need to pull the top of the key towards the tank, sort of horizontally and turn simulatniously and it turns like new. Although it did take me about 10mins of pushing and pulling from different directions to figure it out. If I don't do that it jams and takes about 2mins to get by fiddiling. Spend some time gently pushing and pulling from many directions and turning at the same time and you may find a sweet spot which will work every time - Wd40 may just fix it outright so deffo worth a shot first.
  4. Well if its a track bike - no, but dont be suprised if im PM'ing you about it after wed19th
  5. Had a look at those videos phil. If I watch em enough times, might just stick in in me head enough to know the course that little bit better that might save my ass. Quite a difference in pace between the older videos and the newer ones when your in the fast group. What bike are you on in the later vids btw?
  6. Booked on wednesday 19th at oulton park with no limits, sack the insurance decision made! Any computer games with it on so i can practise lol?
  7. Thinking of going mid june if i can find some novice slots. Price wise was looking around 150 as you say. I have been on the no limits site a few times and if its a simple case of choosing one over the other will go with no limits. Any ideas what caused your off? Just a straight forward low side? At least you got off very lightly damage wise! I went on ebay and just put in 'r6 tack fairings' and a lot of the unpainted ones were comming in about 270... is that about the going rate for track fairings? Whilst on the track looks dont really matter, maybe I'll just DIY and make a fairing out of carboard lol!
  8. Cheers for tips Stu. Will gladly throw on a bib on my track day, my goal is to enjoy it for myself not to look cool or to brag or anything like that

    Warped disks?

Yeh brakes and tires, most important things to have tip top before anything else aey
  10. Thanks, I know you've been on quite a few tracks so is encouraging words. And having my first track day on the best in the UK Although i did wonder why it was a bit more pricey than some of the other ones, I guess that explains it. I think I would be on a race track all day every day if I didn't have to worry about paying for the inevitable destruction
  11. I would guess it works the same as road insurance. Cosmetic damage which will cost under £1650 in new parts, you will have to pay for. Any more, they will pay. I would have a look through the T's and C's though, because if its an extension to your current policy and you write the bike off, you may end up giving up your NCB too. As for likely hood of an off, it depends. Are you going in with a school or just blasting it round a track on your own? Bare in mind that the professionals bin it on a weekly basis, and they have been riding all their lives! Coolio, my plan was: go onto oultons website, pick the most suitable standard 3 group day and plonk myself in the novice group and get instruction if I can. Don't have any intentions of really pushing it to the complete limit, but just to enjoy some freedom and to be able to open the throttle without being paranoid that a copper is going to star jump from behind a bush on me. I don't intend on being competitive, I think if I really got into trackdays I'd get a bike thats a bit more rough around the edges and less painfull to drop. I guess im just struggling with the risk assesment of it, as it seems the risk of binning it is considerable and I don't know if spending that 100 quid is a good idea or not. I am currently preping my fzs600 to sell but think it might be better to take that for the track day despite it being a less track oriented bike - it would be less painful to wreck that than the r6.
  12. Wanting to do a track day at oulton park soon - however am shitting myself about fecking up the bike. My insurance is with mce and had a quick look on their site and track day insurance is 100quid however the excess is half the value of the bike. So my bike is roughly 3300 so the excess is 1650. So how does it get handled in a minor off with only cosmetic damage or a big one with a write off? Is it possible to put a rough figure on the probability of a track novice first timer binning it? Do most track day riders bother with insurance?

    Warped disks?

Sorted - Clean up with loads of brake cleaner and a scrub with a toothbrush in the crevices done the job. Some new copper grease on the back of the pads and the vibration and squealing is gone. Thank feck for that, was not in the mood for buying discs for a bike I've had for about 2 months.

    Warped disks?

Ah I get what you mean... yes they are floating discs so I will check that out as well thanks!

    Warped disks?

Thanks guys, Yeh I get the feeling it isn't as straightforward as warped discs, as i should be feeling a vibration at all speeds. I think I will take it all appart and get stuck in with brake cleaner and give the whole lot a good scrub.... Would it also be a reasonable idea to give the pads and discs a light sanding do you rekkon? If still not right after a good scrub up then I guess i'll just have to deduce that something aint right with the discs.
  16. Ovcourse!!! Id say unlikely a taxi as no plates or phonenumber or anything on it, and was bigger than anything I've seen on a taxi. This thing was f**kin huge btw, it was like a fishing rod - it would probabbly hit a low bridge lol. It stood out as very unusal! Gota be radio enthusasit or a gimp lol!

    Warped disks?

On the bike heavy braking feels great. The issue is when I get down to say less than 20mph and very gently apply front brakes, i can feel a fast pulsing as if an imperfection is going round and round the disks. Results in a very stuttery braking sensation, when im being gentle. So I read somewhere that if you dont feel it when braking hard and only when gentle as in my case, then it could be just some surface shite that will wear itself away after some usage for a while. It also lets out a good squeel just as you come to a hault. I've had a look and there is some expected scratches on the disc in the usual pattern, but nothing obvious. Is this likely warped discs? Or should i say disc thickness variation? The bike has these wavey discs which came on it when I bought it, which if replacing I will probabbly just put normal ones back on.
  18. Seen a BMW this morning on way to work on the M6 with a really large aerial sticking out from basically perfectly in the middle ontop of the boot door. First thought was copper but I seem to recall that they are a bit more subtle than to have a big giant aerial sticking out like that which is quite obvious to people overtaking so I thought maybe its some idiot trying to look like an unmarked cop car??? Or is there any other reason anyone would have such a big aerial out their car? I tried to get a look, but due to the circumstances on the road could not see the driver properly to see if it was a copper.
  19. Probabbly about the same as the amount i see on the phone and not getting done!
  20. Well i guess im lucky i aint caused any crashes or been seen by a copper yet!
  21. What is the law with drinking and eating whilst driving, I've never thought about it? Every morning I drive an hour with a flask of coffee guzziling as I go. I assume food and drink is legal but I guess it also wouldnt surprise me if it aint?? Cos you could probabbly argue from some angle that unboxing a sandwitch or opening a flask is the same, maybe even worse than a phone.
  22. Unfortunitly there are a reasonable number of people out there that in my opinion are like dogs, they will only respond to very basic things like reward/punishment - logic does not compute as much with them. Trying to point out logical errors of judgment just enrages them into caveman(woman in this case) mode and makes them more dangerous. Since only coppers can truely 'punish' them, I usually just ignore them - but I'll admit it does leave you with this empty feeling and a wishing you had done something to knock em down a peg, but I guess when you get sucked into their bull shit anger road ragey stuff - it makes you no better than them. At the end of the day its up to coppers to get em aint it, its just frustrating their never around when shit is happening!
  23. Just to update, this time round i got a measured 120 miles full tank till reserve. I'd say thats more like it! When i posted in the beginning I done a 40mile + 25mile + 'some' aimless riding. I genuinely thought I only done about 10 - 15 miles aimless riding - just shows you the miles totally whizz by when your enjoying yourself! So turns out it was all a fuss over nothing
  24. Is that a motorway cruising 120 or a giving it beans 120? I do that deffo Hmm will try this out. Feck off!
  25. Okay so target millage is 144 from full tank to reserve light on, but I guess anything between say 110 - 140 should be pretty reasonable if im doing stop and start riding through built up areas. Plus going by your pic there you look like you just might weigh a bit less than me - which must make a mile or two worth of difference I guess theres also the potential I didnt fill it up right fozzie, however I am pretty sure I did, but now you have planted that seed of doubt
