  1. Started winding the Mrs up with the whole "Chelsea tractor" routine....we've just bought a Ford Kuga In our defence, anything more than a light frost up here and a 4x4 becomes urgent.
  2. Not to sound condescending, but having a conversation with the guy is probably your best bet. Turning up one day with a new chain saying "this one is quieter" is a bit Sheldon Cooper if we are honest
  3. Get a Buff!! http://www.buffwear.co.uk/buff-adult-headwear/original-buff
  4. Do some exercise and be more balanced with your sugar/fat intake. "Crash" diets rarely work, can be bad for you, and need to be sustained over a long period of time. If you have a proper exercise regime - only needs to be a few hours a week, spread out - then there really is no need for drastic dieting.
  5. From the look of it, not many of the "big" names will be at the Sheene meeting, Martin, Dunlops and McGuinnesses tend to do the Gold Cup and /or Spring Cup. Happy and willing to be corrected though If you are coming for the day you need to be getting there around half nine, and you'll probably find bike parking a lot easier than cars but as NeilM says - both are easy! Oh, and however you arrive - make sure that you are able to walk in the boots. If you want to see the mount side hairpin, start/finish line or Mere Hairpin, it's a fair old hill.
  6. Do both Barry Sheene races have additional "classics" classes and parades, cock o North is modern machines, including sidecars - no parades. Any of the 4 major events at Oliver's is worth a visit, the main one being Gold Cup in September - and therefore the busiest. Camping is easy, very friendly, great racing on a great track.
  7. Her first bike event as well My fifth time at Scarborough, but first time at the Barry Sheene event, usually Cock o' North falls on or around my birthday, easy excuse
  8. Red rose and proud Aye camping it up. I'm travelling on Friday morning to get there early afternoon and then the wife and daughter are catching up in the car once they finish work/school. Daughters first time tenting as we'll, should be a good weekend - assuming the weather holds
  9. See you there. We'll be the ones with the lancashire flag
  10. Who's up for a little TT-by-the-seaside? The annual Barry Sheene road race festival at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough. Classic bikes and sidecars on the UK mainlands only true road race circuit, great fun for all the family.
  11. The new licences are a bit confusing at first if you aren't familiar with the coding's. For instance, if you have a full car licence, you are automatically given an entry into the "A" section of the categories, on the reverse of your card licence. At first glance this would indicate a full bike licence, however it has a "79(3)" coding attached, which limits you to Tricycles only.
  12. YES you can just rock up, buy race tickets (£20) and camping tickets (£10 per tent per night). I was supposed to be going, but been foiled by the b*stards I work for.
  13. My gran (82 i think), loves being able to email me when I am working away. Usually just boring chat about gardens, tv shows, books or such - but it gives her a huge amount of pleasure. In fact she emailed me specially last week to say that she had managed to find BBC Good Food website, and was able to put her laptop in the kitchen to follow the recipe...how clever!! I live in fear of her asking me to set her up with a facebook account
  14. Don't take this the wrong way, but stop being a bloody martyr. From someone who has had 1 knee rebuilt (rugby ) and a fair few knocks on the other - Knee injuries are a bitch, and they have a habit of coming back to bite you in later years. Take some time off work, see a physio and rest.
  15. Dont check your oil just after a ride - make sure the bike has cooled down properly. Then get stuck in with the dipstick. Oh - and don't over-fill. If you do put too much in, you can use the pump from a liquid soap bottle to retrieve some.
  16. I genuinely could kiss you right now.
  17. Nice one I'm looking at doing the Marshals training with Auto 66 (Olivers Mount) once I move jobs and are back in the UK more often.
  18. Distance Learning Gym/Sport Football Manager/Civilisation/xbox Creative Writing I work away 300 days a year and I do all of that. Which part of the wide wide world are you based?
  19. Personally I wouldn't have burnt your bridges like that. Education is awfully incestuous, and managers have a nasty habit of remembering stuff like this (I certainly do anyway...) but whats done is done. Best of luck in the new place
  20. A good way into the "industry" would be to register with your local Marshals Association, and do as many events as possible through the year - track or road. You can then marshal at events (Trackside, Pit Lane, or just mucking in). Through them you should get some contacts to start your Pit Lane, Inspection or Scrutineering courses. This is the Association for the Olivers Mount club in Scarborough, but the info should be relevent to other Marshals Associations: http://www.auto66.com/marshals-news.htm
  21. Got to get to this one year Wont be this one though
