  1. well today was the day! had a good ol' tinker and a quick clean!!

it is definatley the rubber bung on the mounting lug as mentioned above (thanks you :D) and i think the lack of mileage to tank is down to being due a good service

also noticed the coolant is very very low! so am i right in thinking aany coolant will do? or is it specific?

anyway i now think the carb is crudded up!! bike wont start! probably due to having muck in the bottom of the tank then running it dry...i think

so ill see if i can get someone to clean that for me, get the rubber bung, put some coolant in, get it serviced and everything is done :D then i can start spending money on pretty things

    thanks for your help

  2. thanks Tim, i'll have a look in the daylight on sunday after work

the 500's, apart from being all imports, are an older design but it may be the case! either way david silver does spares for the 600 shadows and if its missing a few bits ill get them orderd

the tank is fixed down on one side (the right if you sit on the bike) but and be lifted on the left hand side, i'll also check for leaking on sunday

  3. thanks bill! cant find a single bolt but its nicely held on one side, just not the other!! seat and all body panels are off for a bit of a clean

cant see nuffink!! im gonna go find a piece of floor to cry on, thanks for the advice
