  1. I like the Sun headline the other day. "Diamond Wheezers".
  2. I took my test in about 2007. I was 50 years old at the time. I already had my CBT and was riding a 125 scooter so I took and passed my motorcycle theory test. When I passed that, I did a 3 day course and took and passed my test on a 125 manual bike. That allowed me to ride bikes on a full licence up to a certain power. At the time, I had no intention of getting a big bike - I just wanted to ditch the 'L' plates, get cheaper insurance, not to have to keep taking the CBT every few years and carry pillions on my 125 if I wanted. Within 18 months I bought my SH300i which I still have. After two years it automatically allowed me to ride any size bike. I bought a Burgman 650 in 2011 and in January 2014 I chopped that in for a FJR. I don't think I remember this mod 1/2 being around at the time. Do they still do the 125 upgradeable test that I took or has it all changed?
  3. I bought family cover. Me, my wife, my son and my daughter. Roadside and relay. We have 4 cars and two motorbikes between us but it covers any of us in any vehicle/bike. I paid £196 for it but bought it through a cashback site and I get £76 back so not bad cover for £120 a year.

A couple of my previous cars that I bought as projects and restored from the floor pans upwards! The mk1 RS 2000 Escort replica I sold to buy a brand new 650 Burgman exec in 2011 http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b602/Stevedalton57/bed13b174ec075fb4fb37e930d3852cd_zpsf4d83898.jpg And I sold this genuine MK2 Cortina Lotus to pay for a new kitchen in 2000 http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b602/Stevedalton57/d855fe69f1bf0084164699984571dfbe_zpsdbb0b3cb.jpg
  5. I knew someone was going to suggest this, however the AA and RAC want to charge me an extortionate amount of money as my bike is over 10 years old. I'm not going to wait an hou I thought it was the person covered by the AA not the vehicle. Ive got AA and they dont know what vehicles I drive. Depends whether you choose personal or vehicle cover. If you have something more than 10 years old, you can get vehicle cover but not just roadside cover - you have to pay for roadside and relay.
  6. We have a 'dog shit alley' where I live that is a short cut to the train station. A few years ago, me and the wife were coming home through it and I stepped in some. I gave them a quick wipe on the grass before attempting to go in my house but the wife wasn't having any of it - she made me take them off and she set about cleaning them with some of her special stuff she keeps under the sink. Anyway, a few days after that I went out to do some Christmas shopping on my own and halfway around Marks and Spencer's, I stepped right off my soles! Whatever the wife had used, it had completely dissolved the glue that holds the sole frame to the shoe! I looked a right nana trying to walk back to my car in shoes with no soles or heels. Didn't help that I was pissing myself with laughter at the time too.
  7. We also went on a Carribean cruise on Azura in November 2011 with two other friends and we both paid extra for one of the larger super de-luxe balcony cabins. Almost no privacy as the balconies jut out further on the ship than the others so everyone above could look down on us! We booked many, many months ahead and I think we paid around £1900 each. Our other friends decided to join us on the cruise about six weeks before it left and got a bloody suite with a butler, fresh fruit and flowers every day, canapes every night and entrance to a special restaurant breakfast for the same money. How they laughed, the bast*rds! Mind you, they were late risers and rarely ate breakfast so we both took turns to use their cabin card to have our brekkie in the nobs breakfast lounge. The Indian restaurant is fab - give it a try, it's nothing like the meals you get from your local Indian restaurant. Done a few cruises and prefer P&O every time. Tea making facilities in the room, cheaper drinks and priced in sterling.
  8. Yep, tyres are the one thing I would never, ever skimp on on a bike.
  9. If you use money (notes) as the bait, record/photograph the serial numbers. If you use coins, use some UV dye on them, perhaps write your initials or, better still, 'GOTCHA!' on the coins/notes with UV dye as well.
  10. I rarely wave in the UK. Sometimes I may nod if I'm filtering and another biker is filtering from the other direction. I do most of my waving for when I'm on the continent. It's so much easier when riding on the right hand side of the road to wave or give a thumbs up with your left hand. Plus, most bikers you see over there on the mountain roads are happy tourists on a trip, not harassed commuters!
  11. What about filmon free. I know it works on iPad and iPhone. I have used it abroad before to watch UK channels that you can't watch abroad on BBCIplayer or itv player. Not sure about pc.
