  1. Totally agree about Belgium. Never again!
  2. I was thinking of an electric shower with a seperate, say, 5 or 10 ltr water heater for the bathroom and kitchen sinks with off peak storage heaters in a well insulated newly built flat. As has been mentioned, no gas safety check required if letting it out and frankly, I don't care about the running costs as I won't be footing the leccy bill. I'm reckoning I could get that lot fitted for about the same as it would cost just to have a new gas supply installed.
  3. Are you saying that in a modern built property insulated correctly, electric central heating will be okay? I only ask as I am thinking if building a one (possibly two) bedroom flat above a business premises I own and was thinking that the expense of actually getting mains gas to the property plus installing gas central heating will be an expensive option considering the place will be very well insulated. (I have mains electric but no gas).
  4. I got a ticket for parking on the pavement outside Johns of Romford! They own the strip directly outside their window where they park their bikes but I was on the pavement.
  5. As it's not slipping, could be the clutch release bearing maybe?
  6. I gave up about 12 years ago. Still feel like one after I've eaten and have put on 3 stone!
  7. Could be a fuel supply problem also. If you take the fuel pipe off of the carb and turn the tap on, do you get a good, constant flow of fuel? If not, try checking the pipes/fuel tap for blockages. Some taps have a gauze mesh filter and if the bike has been standing for some time it may be blocked with rust from the tank.

    how to run??

Why not just put it in gear and stall it?
  9. I ordered a pair of Michelin tyres online for my FJR from a German company. The front came two days later from France and the rear came a day later from Belgium! £60 cheaper than I could have got from any UK supplier.
  10. I think the section 75 credit card guarantee only applies to items costing between £100 and £30,000 so, for example, a £99 gift card will not be covered.
  11. I'm like you - very cautious of wet riding. Not so much of a problem on my SH300 scooter but when I'm on my 144bhp FJR, a tad poopy! I've had the bike fishtail because the rear wheel lost traction and saw the speedo go to 140mph and rev counter go to 9000rpm at 70+mph when I crossed a white line when overtaking in the rain in France. Not recommended for the faint hearted. I need to get some of those knee sliders and stick them to the sole of my boots when cornering in the rain.
  12. Just an update to my previous post. My trousers are Spada AIRSTREAM not airflow ad I incorrectly stated in that post and yesterday I saw the EXACT same trousers in JS motorcycle accessories being marketed as Hein Gericke airstream. They are exactly the same. They were priced at £109.99 which I think is what I paid for mine however.... If you search online for Hein Gericke Airstream you will come across a German site that have them on sale for €49.99. Yes, 49.99 EUROS. Might be worth checking them out.
  13. My ears have always folded over whenever I put any helmet on. I just pull the left side of the helmet outwards and poke my ear straight with my right hand then reverse the procedure for the other side. Of course as others have said, a helmet liner will stop your ears folding over. Something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/EDZ-Season-Moto ... VKYS9AD7S1
  14. I use Spada airflow trousers and jacket. Both have a removable liner and the jacket comes with a waterproof outer shell that folds up and fits in a zipped section on the lower back of the jacket. Both work well on the hottest of days.
  15. TFL = Transport For London. I don't think they quite reach Yorkshire yet mate!
  16. Exactly as above. Had a great time on the second ride out - fast country lanes with a cop on a bike as our get out of jail card. We had a free lunch at Frankie and Bennys and got a goody bag as we left - a book, a pen, a keyring, a high vis jacket, neck tube, torch, tyre pressure gauge, tread depth gauge and a few other bits. Most of us there got the day for free courtesy of TFL funding but it would have been worth the full price of £45. One bloke was well pissed off though - despite being told to turn up on a roadworthy bike, this bloke who was in training to be a community copper, turned up on a Kawasaki replica race bike in full, one- piece leathers including the back hump bit, matching gloves, helmet and boots. Unfortunately he had an indicator out, a headlight not working and a number plate the size of a postage stamp. They said they could have possibly overlooked that but not the front fork that was pissing out oil all over the front brakes so he was refused the opportunity to take part. He was not a happy biker. Still, we shared his burger and chips around at lunchtime so it wasn't a total write off.
  17. I don't know your budget but Ive used these on my iPhone 5 and 6. Brilliant. Completely waterproof and you can use a charging cable at the same time. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Interphone-Fahr ... B0071KVDOO
  18. Looks like an exhaust ring gasket. Usually asbestos filled and covered with a thin metal cover. Just chop through it gently with a flat head screwdriver and prize it out. Stuff a piece of rag down the port before you start though to stop anything falling into the cylinder.
  19. Anyone been on one of those courses? I'm going on one tomorrow on my FJR - an all day job. Had a chance to get it free so I thought, why not? Just wondering what to expect.
  20. Of the four of us with 20s's, they are paired with an iPhone 4, an iPhone 5, an iPhone 6 and one other windows based one (can't remember which). All are wired over the top of the lining and not around the back. Two of them (iPhone 4 and windows phone) also have them paired with their Garmin zumo satnavs as well as their phones. They are perfect for just chat and satnav but if you are talking to someone and theirs or your satnav instructions kick in, it overrides the chat temporarily so their chat just stops.
  21. The only problem I have with my 20s is that the radio cannot pick up Radio 2. Three of my mates with the same headset have the same problem. So does everyone else so don't get it if you really need the radio part unless you have an unlimited data tariff and get the radio on your phone and Bluetooth it to the headset. I could listen to music from my phone in it, talk with friends, have group chat and get my satnav directions all at the same time (talk and satnav directions override music). I only use mine in my 'touring' Schuberth C3 Pro helmet though so I'm not fully conversant with it. Bought a second fitting kit for my winter full face Shoei but haven't used that yet. I use my Nolan N104 with Bluetooth for my daily commute as I'm familiar with the radio operation in that but unlike the Sena, you cannot have music and conversation with that at the same time - one or the other.
  22. I don't know what your budget is but we went to the Sea Garden Resort, Turkey with Mark Warner a few years back and it was £550 all inclusive - don't think it's gone up much either. That was with BA flights so a good luggage allowance, drinks and food on board, transfers, all drinks etc plus, free use of all the non-powered water sports stuff including tuition - canoes, wind surfing, sailing in all sorts of boats etc. Had a free scuba lesson there too - you can pay extra for proper courses including night diving too. It's very close to Bodrum so you can get a local bus to buy all the counterfeit gear you want! Don't forget you need a visa for Turkey now - you can't just okay a tenner on arrival anymore. Here's a link. http://www.markwarner.co.uk/sun-holiday ... sea-garden
  23. My mates got a 20s and my old iPhone 4. He's never mentioned any problems.
