  1. If the mechanic started it every day no problem, then it must be down to something you are doing wrong methinks. Go back to the garage and ask them to show you the proper way to start it up

Bought one from AO.com, they do take the old one away for you but there is a £14.95 charge for it. Just as there is for the other services they offer, seem a good company though.

We are off on holiday in a few days and the washing machine decides to breakdown, currently waiting for the repair man to either fix or condem it. If he condems it we have got the hassle of getting a new one, fitting it and getting rid of the old one, all before Friday.
  5. Hi, Just Googled it, Startright motorcyles have got one in stock I believe? Part no 61150-1179-0000. £14.95p, they also seem to stock other parts for your bike as well
  6. Out of the 2........ I wouldn't pick either , but then I'm old!!
  7. Is it getting to the point when someone should decide enough is enough, and either restict the top speed of the bikes or bring to an end the races? The island is no longer an official racing venue as it was deemed to dangerous.

    R6 throttle

    What's that?
  9. Going to Alghero in Sardinia on the 13th for 7nights, looking on Youtube oeople have posted several rides from their onboard cameras. Will be hiring a car for a few days though, might be an idea of somewhere yoy can go?
  10. I didn't actually comment about if the punishment fitted the crime or not, I just providing a different viewpoint (for the sake of debate), that driving at excessive speeds is not the same as premeditated murder, and should therefore (in my opinion) not carry the same punishment as some have suggested he should be treated like any other murderer At what speed above the posted limit does the crime change from simply "speeding" to "intent to commit murder"? and does speeding and not killing anyone make us failed murderers?? Surely though, any powered vehicle is a weapon in the wrong hands and should be treated as such. If a person uses that weapon to deliberately drive at exessive speed which resulted in someone being killed or severely injured then the punishment must fit the crime (just as if they were using a knife or gun)? Not be let off with what amounts to a slapped wrist!
  11. Just wanted to say congratulations to all the Newbies on here. I passed my test 21 years ago now, and at that time all I had to do was complete the C.B.T. and then take the bike test. Wish I had taken it years earlier though when all you had to do was ride round the block and the examiner jumped out at you. If you managed to avoid him and answer a few questions on the highway code, you passed. Nowadays it is far harder to get a 'full' licence, what with all the different stages you have to pass first. There seems to be a lot more Newbies on the road now (of all ages) than there has been for a while, which is brilliant!! So as I said at the start Congratulations to each and everyone of you
  12. Mine is simple, oldie 'cause I am and 59 is my age
  13. Always believed that life should mean life, just as it is in other countries. If anyone kills another person be it premeditated or otherwise, then they should be locked up for the rest of their lives. The only exeption to this in my eyes is assisted suicide
  14. Read that as gentle heat, too much can deform the piston. A cloth/tea towel dipped into hot water then wrapped around the piston and left for a few minuites sometimes works. Well pointed out, i would have thought no one would heat it until cherry red or melting though You never know

  16. Bought a bread maker a few months ago as I fancied having a go at making some bread, it also makes cakes and surprisingly enough jam as well. Brilliant piece of kit, but you have to experiment with the quantities of ingredients though as sometimes the loaves come out very heavy and dense. Anybody else got one?
  17. Disinfectant spray sometimes helps remove the bacteria that cause the smell. Try using charcoal impregnated insoles as well to stop it happening again. And welcome to the site Grandad Mike
  18. Just a thought, saw a video on Del Boys Garage (Youtube, good site) a few weeks ago, where he mentioned the dangers of wearing rings whilst working on bike electrics. Gold it seems is a very good conductor, people have had to have their ring finger amputated because they managed to touch a live battery terminal. Not nice!
  19. It's got to be far simpler/cheaper/safer to use a switched live and a relay surely though, than go through all the hassle of connecting it through the fuse box?? And if you use some kind of multi connector you can use it to power other things as well
  20. I'm almost 60 (), I always wear my wedding ring
  21. I usually take Beacham's hot lemon powder mixed with water, but would it taste better and cure the cold quicker if it was mixed with JD instead??
  22. Anybody want a free summer cold? Or have you got an amazingly fast cure for them?

    engine luggish

Wondering what would happen if you tried the scooter without the airbox connected? (Only for a short while though) If it does run ok like that then there is a blockage in the air box

    engine luggish

First thing that comes to mind is that she has somehow caused an airleak and the engine is now running very weak, which will cause the lack of power as there isn't enough fuel getting through. She needs to recheck that the airbox is correctly connected and is not damaged in any way.
