  1. the dealer at the shop didn't give me any coverage of the bike unfortunately so i doubt he would take the bike back again. I think he also knew that there was an issue with it as he took over a month to finally MOT it. Get yourself down to your nearest Citizens Advice Centre ASAP. You are protected under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, which states ' Goods must be as discribed, satifactory quality and fit for purpose.' Fit for purpose means that anything you buy, be it from a bike dealer or a shop selling second hand washing machines must be suitable for their everyday purpose and not breakdown the first time they're used for their intended purpose. The fact that the dealer didn't offer you a waranty means that he knew that the bike was faulty when he sold it to you. You are entitled to either having the bike repaired by him to a reasonable standard, or having your money back.
  2. First thought was it's a warranty issue, but you state you have had the bike a few months. Is it still covered?
  3. Depends what you want to paint? Used Hammerite paint years ago to paint a swingarm, just brush it on and it leaves a wrinkle finish.
  4. Could be a way of damping out secondary vibes in the fairing panels, or could be way of protecting them as you suggested from the heat of the engine?
  5. Will be getting the pipe weld stuff later, thanks Mr Fro for suggesting it
  6. Interested in what glue people recommend, need some good and strong stuff to repair the plastic part of the mounting bracket for one of my panniers. Was thinking about Araldite, but not sure it will do the job?
  7. Me! Riding down a country lane near Matlock. Not concentrating properly, hit a hedge and managed to rip off one of the panniers from my bike the other day. Fixed the mountain bracket, but damaged the bottom corner of the pannier, hopefully it is repairable?
  8. Got Vista at the moment and thinking of upgrading to Windows 10, but wondering if the install will affect all the files I have got on my hard drive?
  9. You must have broken the law at some point to get sent to prison? There are several different ways to do this obviously that doesn't involve the police, but it's still breaking the law and they do give you a criminal record which shows up on any check that is made into your background. I was caught shoplifting (a one off) over 30 years ago, and made to pay a fine plus costs. It is long spent but still flags up on CRB checks and I sometimes still have to declare it when filling in application forms.
  10. By all means check out all the above but I would also check the state of the air filter, has it got one? if it is missing or has been modded at some point the bike will run lean

    engine swap

Imagine if it was possible to put a Arianne rocket engine into a Honda 50, wonder how fast it would go??
  12. Please let us know how you get on with it, and if you sort out the carb problem.
  13. Have you tried checking the wre connections to the auto choke further up the loom? You might find a faulty connector or a broken wire. Regarding the starting problem, will the bike run ok without the air filters in place? If so one or both filters may be blocked and need replacing.

    slow start

Are you using the choke? Even in this warm weather, sometimes using the choke for a short time helps the bike start easier
  15. Len Vale-Onslow, used to own a bike shop come spares dept on Stratford road Sparkbrook in Birmingham (Vale-Onslow's) till he died in April 2004 aged 104. He rode bikes into his 90's, he even designed and built his own bikes (the S.O.S). I used to go there quite often for spares for the Bonnie and other bikes, sadly missed.

    Sods law

The repair guy did indeed condem the old machine, got one from AO.com and it was delivered the next day. So managed to go on holiday no problem for sugesting them By the way, there is a £15 extra charge for removing the old one and this goes for each of the extra services they offer

  18. But do you also check the chains tension on a regular basis, or was it just flapping around and that was the reason it came off? You got off lightly with just the chainguard damage the chain could have caused far more, including locking the rear wheel and you ending up in hospital because of it. The chain could also have snapped and ripped into your leg, not nice! Nope i didn't, think i checked it once or twice there wasn't any obvious hanging so i thought it would be okay, it did lock up my rear wheel, jumped off the sprocket and goy stuck between the bolts and the swing arm and was more like an emergency stop wasn't too bad didn't lose balace just looked at the back like" why me" You were lucky this time, next time?????
  19. I lube it after every ride because my cbt instructor said its best too and i knew i needed to get a new chain soon but not now But do you also check the chains tension on a regular basis, or was it just flapping around and that was the reason it came off? 20. Have you tried replacing the plugs and air filter? Doing this might help

    CB500 problems

Just looked on Ebay there are several reg/rectifiers for your bike on there and there is at least one connector plug. Yes Honda's are well know for frying there reg/rec's and taking out the battery in the process. This could be down to the connector plug wiring not being up to the job and overheating? As for your front brake, wondering if the caliper pistons need cleaning with brake cleaner and an old toothbrush as they can sometimes stick in the caliper. To do this apply your front brake (at home), clean the pistons and then gently push them back into the caliper. This should free them off, but reapply your front brake a few times to reseat the pads before taking your bike out onto the road It might be worth cleaning the rear caliper in the same way to help prevent problems later
  22. But the person might be mildly disabled or something or it might be an elderly person. The scammers rely on the fact that there will always be people gulible enough to give out their personal info.
