  1. I know Just wait 'till later though
  2. Tony I think it's still the same. There was a survey 2 years back from the federation and the majority voted against. Violence does breed violence. this is what sets our country apart. But...we are faced with ever evolving threats, not just from terror but very well armed London gangs etc. It's taken this long to get Taser to response teams (very limited numbers mind). Yes armed response teams are very capable, but are there enough of those teams? Debatable.
  3. I have to agree with you Foz, and Gin. fro, yes, agree, but obviously not about the Cowboys the Met has a chequered past but they do the same job as the counties, just busier.
  4. God no, don't think your being arrogant, it's people's views I'm after. Your right, 7/7 wouldn't have been stopped by armed officers, but a Paris/Mumbai style attack could be.
  5. Lol. As Glorian says, plenty of large ego's. I just wish I studied harder at school. And flown a Typhoon instead
  6. Yeah, that's just it. People do get it wrong, but the results are dire. I personally don't think it's gonna happen anyway.
  7. We all just straight away think of America. The problem with America is that guns are built into their culture. In Europe things are different. You don't see this happening to the extent that it does in America. And the answer to 'have you seen some of our coppers?' ...yeah I totally get that but there are idiots in every job. Take London. If anything happened there, the chances are there would be officers very close by, at any time of the day. If they are unarmed then they can not respond, if they are armed then they have the chance to stop something and actually save lives. Rubber bullets/baton rounds are not viable. Range/accuracy and reload times are far too bad. I think this is quite interesting and I wonder if views would change drastically if something happened say in London? I'm actually on the fence on this at the moment as I can see both sides, but knowing what I know, it's bloody scary all the same.
  8. Was having this discussion last week and I think it's an interesting topic after what's tragically happened in Paris. Now that air strikes look inevitable, which places us at even more risk, what's your opinions on arming all Police considering all other European countries are fully armed?.... I'm certainly not after a Police bashing thread, just honest views. Ta, Mart
  9. With you on the shifts mate, they kill me. I've never seen such low morale in the job before. People leaving in droves.
  10. Did you not get out of your probation then? Trust me it gets better the longer your in and the more courses you get under your belt, especially on response teams. But, the job certainly isn't what it once was. Foz to be fair to Glorian I'm the same. There's only a very few traffic offences I'd not let slide on the first occasion (mobile phones/insurance etc). I find its always better to warn first if they have a decent attitude. I'd rather treat people how I'd like to be treated, fairly. I've been given a bit of a touch before and was thankful for that.
  11. Yeah I can understand that! Fisters having fogs on the front to be cool? Pathetic. I find the worse ones though are the bellends that don't seem to understand how the lights works in their cars and switching on the rear fog light(s) and the front, despite there being little lights on the dash to say they are on! Then driving behind them for miles on end having your retinas burnt out.
  12. That just made me spit coffe! Priceless!
  13. That'd do it for me
  14. My god I remember the injuries from skateboarding in the eighties lol. Which is why I'm buying a razor 360 thingy for my son at xmas. He really is a danger to himself lol.
  15. Done mate. Well done for doing this and getting past your target
  16. Is this the beginning of the robot uprising? My last car had lights that came on when you pressed stuff and went off when you stopped pressing stuff We are edging towards automatic cars that drive you to your destination. Imagine a system that will solve most congestion issues, and be safer for bikes. For manually driven vehicles the system will just play by the rules of the road, and have some settings for filtering in with manually driven cars/bikes. Will also hurt the government as speed cameras will become more or less obsolete, and in my eyes that's a beautiful thing I'd rather have the speed cameras and use my loaf and have fun, than lose cameras and be governed by a computer on the roads Let's hope that never happens!
  17. Your brake lights should still be on with your auto hold Dave
  18. NOTD goes to the CPS. Again.
  19. Newer BMW's and electronic shifters will not flash the reverse light. foz it's not as easy as flicking a switch, set hand brake, then before you pull off you have to put foot on the brake to select drive again. In traffic that's a pain as much as a clutch. This is why autos in traffic make sense, just hold brake. Mercs and BMW also have brake hold assist so when you stop it auto brakes so you can relax Manual Hand brakes left on whilst in drive with a torque converter box isn't a problem in traffic (not extended periods) but not a good idea with DSG type boxes.
  20. There are not many cars on the roads with full LED lights yet, and my experience of them is they don't blind at all but they are very bright. LED DRL's shouldn't blind either. HID lights in some cars can be annoying, but the worst offenders are people who fit aftermarket HID bulbs/kits into reflector housings. They scatter bright light everywhere and blind everyone. The local Clio/corsa/fiesta brigade round here all, like to have them. Funny though as a lot of bike riders do this, which pisses car drivers off. The only safe way to have HID's retrofitted is into a projector housing. Badly fitted bulbs which aren't seated into the bulb carriers is also very common. When you have a car following and it looks like one bulb is on high beam and the other ok.
  21. Although your reasoning is pretty sound mate, it's still not an assault. Your reasonable apprehension of harm must be immediate, ie face to face, not over a phone call, email or social media. Common assault is basically divided into two parts, the immediate fear or threat (Common Assault) or the actual assault itself, ie Battery. You can not assault someone over the phone, email etc etc. Hope this clears it up. If you need any further advice pal, PM me.
  22. Firstly mate, think you might have been fobbed off if you wanted a result from the Police. The first occasion after you told her to stop would/should have resulted in a first instance harassment warning. Anything after would be arrest/summons, as the course of conduct has not ceased. For them to have a large file shows they are doing nothing with it. It doesn't matter if it's three emails or a hundred, the offence is complete. This legislation isn't new. Malicious communications is different, and again, is not new legislation. Threatening you over email etc is not an assault, it's malicious comms at best. If things have stopped for you, that's good, but if not, get back onto them and ask what the f*ck is going on. Hope this helps...
  23. Lifts always smell different to midgets...
