    gpz strange noise

could have also buggered yer baffles in the can. try "tapping" the exhaust and listening for a bit of a rattle.. If somert does rattle, then its very likely one of the baffles has become dislodged, broken, etc... hand over the exhaust should definately stop the bike tho
  3. webcam and old laptop in a tankbag.. has worked fine for me for years GALLONS of recording space.. decentish resolution (if you dont buy a £7 webcam...) and pretty good battery life to boot. plus.. adding more cameras is an "easy to do" task Well I have a laptop that is fooked pretty much already. Bit of padding, new Webcam (Or 3) and I might be able to do this.... Hmmmmmmm Bit of work to do in the coming weeks!! if you need any help getting it all rigged up and working, give me a shout (btw.. interesting camera angle is from the swingarm looking back, top of the front mudguard and top of the clocks )

The police use a simular method though, obviously they've got speed stamps and stuff aswell. as apposed to a few hundred quids worth of camera I have an Asus EeePC 900.. PC World stock them for £320, but I got mine for £250 from Fleabay. shockproof.. tiny.. good battery life.. and does the job perfectly

  6. not knowing your bike, but I assume its quite large cc per cylinder? They have two sparkies to get a "better burn". It increases the compression and also gives improved thermodynamic efficiency.. and reduces the amount of unburnt fuel thrown out the back. As for tightening them.. I've never bothered with a torque wrench with them. using a small wrench, I apply pressure only using thumb and index finger until it feels "tight" on them. which is usually about 1/4 of a turn...
  7. nman.. you coming on friday or saturday? If saturday, I'm picking up Anna from my house at 11am.. if you get to mine for then, I could guide you in as it were? If friday, I'll see you there
  8. lol.. its about 20 metres door to door Even a half-decently aimed fall from your barstool will probably suffice. I'm aiming to be there around 3ish on Friday, so can assist with the "guiding in" if needed

    Paddock Stands

OK.. I'm after a paddock stand (rear) for my ZX. I've read about bobbins.. and universal stands.. and so on.. but I'm still a bit confused over the whats and whys. Basically. My understanding is that the universal stands have "cups" on them that you place under your swing arm directly... no bits bolted on the bike.. just like a car jack in effect. Then there's the bobbin ones... I understand that bobbins get fitted to your bike, and the stand is designed to "hook" these bobbins and lift the bike up with them. Can you confirm my understandings are right? I'd imagine the latter (bobbin) method is more stable? Where do the bobbins attach normally? all advice appreciated.

    buying brake pads

well.. I've done it.. lol and it's just as much a pain as on the car Ended up getting some EBC double H pads... read they were pretty good, so... The pistons were the bit that gave me the upmost grief... pushing in with the screwdriver worked on one.. the gap and design of the calipers stopped me using a pair of g-clamps on the old pads.. (a trick I use for the car). eventually got the pistons in by hammering a wooden wedge between the old pads till they moved.. pain in the bum.. but done..
  15. mine did this.. then I got the carbs ballanced... hasn't done it since... could be that perchance?

    Bike Horn

fixed mine on my zx6 only a few weeks ago... where the two wires come out from under the fuel tank, they're connected to the horn with two SHITE connectors.. they corroded to the point of non-function on my bike... strip em off.. replace with some nicer connectors (halfords will do).. bit of WD40.. slide em on.. and bobs your uncle. at least.. that's what it took for mine.. but as others have said.. check a direct lead to the horn from the battery.. eliminating the switch / wires. if that works, then check those connectors first.. if they're good.. check the switch, as I'm told they're known to go too...

    buying brake pads

this bit being the bit I get the most annoyed with on cars (especially the older ones..) I'm assuming that because of the lower levels of fluid in the system, and smaller distance to the fluid tank, it'll be much easier to push the pistons back in? Also.. bike shops.. Some good ones in Nottingham area please anyone? (Admin / Mods - Can we build up a google-map of all "good" places for bikes? Mot stations, servicing, dealerships, shops.. etc? - I don't mind "running" it fo you if that makes any difference to the answer? )

    buying brake pads

there are some very annoying grinding sounds starting to come from my front whilst braking. I know, I know, I should've changed them long before this, but it slipped my mind. Anyone recommend a good place to get brake pads for a '98 ZX6R from? I mean... Do halfords sell em for example? I'd prefer to go to a place and collect, rather than get them delivered (meaning I can do them this weekend..) Also.. I absolutely hate changing pads on the car... Is it still as much of a ballache on the bike, or, as they're smaller, is it easier?)
