What’s the difference between waypoints and shaping points?

a way point is fixed .. will appear in my favourites .. can be used multiple times in unending variety .... shaping points are unique to that particular route file ... they can be lost in the transfer from the creation software to the sat-nav unit ... they can also be lost if the unit needs to recalculate ... their benefit is the quickness with which a route can be planned ... they are of no use whatsoever if you need to reprogram the sat-nav unit "on the hoof" where as waypoints are infinitely usable  for on the hoof reprogramming...

I do of sorts, mental note of list of towns down a sort of thought out route,
    Voice navigation navigate to….

If I don’t like the preview I try another town on my list, waypoints are to restrictive.

I was hoping part of the library could be other such alternate routes, there are plenty.

Hmmm.. your MO. is not how i work .. basecamp ... being fixed is the whole point of using them .. and the ability to have a spare programmed unit constantly available ...

The problem is when on passage, trying to make a good time between places without being stuck on the motorway.  If you put avoid motorway into a route planner it does just that ALL The time, not just using them where sensible.

given your requirements .. which is referred to as mixed mode routing.. simple and only solution is to use waypoints ....

  5.  Switzerland is well worth the effort .. those passes adjacent to  Andermatt  are breathtaking ... its expensive though including the vignette  .. and fuel requires a credit card in many places..

Due to all the laws and accompanying fines they have it’s a tedious place to visit. Speed cameras. Speed traps. And an awful lot of polizei with little to do aside from dusting their credit card machines it’s just not worth the hassle. It’s good that you have a GPS on order at least you can be sure you’re within the speed limit everywhere. Be very careful.

    you got caught speeding ...

you obviously can't read.. or deliberately ignored my reasoning. here is a reminder.

you're obviously just trolling, so off to the ignore section with you. TTFN.

i have  indeed read your post .. however it is evident that for whatever "excuses" you choose to give you are not to be relied upon ..  so it is best to organise things oneself ..  easy to dismiss uncomfortable truths by decrying troll ...  and its of to the FWOT. section for you.

I’m a bit sceptical that these noise cameras can accurately detect precisely which vehicle is making the noise. … I can see a situation where a boy racer type car is next to a stock saloon … now the operator may assume the boy racer car is creating the noise. But maybe not

the example shown has but one microphone ... the next generation have at least three ... there will be arguments in court in and around your assertion .. as similarly there was around speed cameras ... untill the trap becomes enforceable ... which it will ..

Make sure they actually want to go back home, or the last day when you head that direction it becomes challenging.

hmmm .. usually i just make a gpx. file on the sat nav... not challenging at all ..
