  3. Susie, good news from me and mine. Put me down for confirmed 2x adults and 1x under 4yr old.
  4. Just as well you pointed that out Rennie. Damn them. Damn them all to hell. Ah well Ratser mate, looks like MCN is a no go for me. Trying to sort out my family for going to Cadbury World. Next time for sure though.
  5. I'm off that weekend so I think I'll be going as well. Ratser, fancy joining forces for the ride through? Also, what day so I can book tickets? Saturday good for everybody?
  6. Trying to convince my wife to come but she's wary of the 5 and a half hour journey. We'll see what she says. Susie put me down for 2 provisional adults and 1 under 4 child. Aware of the 9th March deadline so I'll let you know one way or the other ASAP.
  7. Na Simba, we're talking about this year as well mate. Any Saturday/Sunday coming up where the weather is decent enough. Just because it's cold doesn't mean you have to stop riding Looks like the votes are for Sundays so far as well. Probably the best day for most people I'd imagine.
  8. Ah well. No bother mate. Family comes first. As I may be reminded first hand if my wife goes into labour between now and Sunday
  9. Just a thread to stick up any info when you're heading out for a quick blast instead of a new thread every time. Thinking a few dozen posts are easier to look through than a few dozen scattered topics. So further from Stu kindly pointing out our bad posting habits this thread is for posting when you decide to go out, maybe on the off chance or even plan a couple of days in advance. Whatever you decide. I'll start..... this Sunday coming. 9th Nov. Glasgow, weather permitting. So far me and Ratser. Any more takers?
  10. Aye, the weather on Sunday is sh*t. Heavy rain, plenty of wind so unless it changes it could be a no go. I think a new thread might be a good idea Ratser. This was supposed to be a poll for the best day to ride out, now we've kind of altered it a bit I'll throw a new thread up called Out and About. Place to give a quick heads up if you're going out for a blast or any last minute runs instead of popping a new thread every time you head out.
  11. Cool mate. I should be getting my bike back either tomorrow or Thursday. Getting new pistons in the front brake caliper this time. Guess that means my entire brake system has been overhauled then Started out with a new back disc needed and some new pads to a complete re-work. Never rains but it pours. So I'll need to take the bike for a good stretch on Sunday (weather permitting as you say) to break all the new stuff in. I'll check the 5 day weather later today, see if they've put up a forecast for Sunday yet.
  12. Don't know if any of you folks would be interested but I finish up my work this coming Friday (start a new job in 3 weeks) and I'm planning a wee run out and about on Sunday. Depending on whether my wife has given birth by then or not, she was due on Saturday past so..... But baby and weather permitting just to see if anyone fancied a blast up north, maybe the A82 or somewhere close by (just in case I need to turn and run ) Any takers
  13. Aye Thomo, exactly as Ratser said, it's about meeting up and having a laugh mate, not really a race meet. Especially on some of the roads up north in winter. It's dodgy walking on them, never mind racing
  14. All day every day if I can. I'm going to be using my bike this winter (first winter) and all year round from now on. Only problem I have is my bike is parked outside at work during the night (working nightshift) and it's a struggle sometimes to get a decent start in the morning, especially since it's only a short journey to and from home & work
  15. I agree with Korben on this. Rule of thumb as it was explained to me is 'Leather for summer, textile for winter'. But it does depend on when you're going to be riding and how much your wallet can handle. If you can afford a set of each then great. If not then textile is your most economical answer. Get a decent set of textiles and you could get some with removable thermal lining, vents for riding and armour built in. I've been using my textiles since March, don't have leathers yet and I've only had to put my thermal inners in once. It can get a bit warm in the summer but open the vents and wear under clothing such as polypropolene (or other wicking) materials and you should be good to go. I swear by my polyprop t-shirt, gucci bit of kit. Anyway I deviate, textiles if you ride all year, leathers if you are a summer club showboater generally speaking of course.
  16. Agree with you there jera. It might be cold but at least we'll still get some good dry days. Obviously a point I missed is that you are more than welcome to invite people you know from outside the forum. Not a drama at all. As long as they are aware of course that there will be riders on 125's or maybe not as confident and whatnot but it's not a race. It's a meet-up and a casual ride out among mates. I'll leave that up to all your better judgement of course. Or even better, get them to join the site. There's nothing like free advertising eh?
  17. Morning all. Decided it was time we great folk up here should sort out a meet of some kind. There seem to be a few of us in Scotland according to the 'scotland' thread so I thought we could try and arrange a regular ride out/meet for all of us to attend. My thoughts are a ride out maybe once a month ie; the last Sunday/Saturday of every month. We could try and meet at different places each time if possible. That way you don't always have to travel far, we can ride a different road all the time and whoever lives locally can show us their favourite road/route/spot for biking. So I put it you all to either vote for the last Saturday of the month, last Sunday of the month or choose the 'other' and insert your own idea. Either way it'll be an opportunity for all of us to put names to faces, possibly make new mates and just enjoy a big ride out altogether. So for instance if we all meet in Glasgow (just cause I live here ), head out the A82 by Loch Lomond to Inverary or somewhere along that road, stop for a break something to eat, grab a few photos, have a laugh, then head home and post about it on here. Potential there for a great ride out. Stick your votes in and any ideas or anyone wants to help organise it and we'll see what comes out the other end
  18. Come on slug, I know it's an exciting course but there's no need to share your bodily state with the rest of the group
  19. Bulli, I get what you're saying completely mate. I wouldn't say I missed the point only circumvented it a bit. I was trying to highlight the point that regardless of what Government or race testers say people will buy what they see is the best because of price/looks/brand respectively. However I do believe what you were saying about people being mislead by certain testing measures and approval methods. This could be applied to most things in life that have 'independent, non-bias' testing methods though so it's not a new age tactic, if that is what this SHARP testing ultimatley is. The main sure fire way to check things helmets is unfortunately to crash with them. But not every crash is exactly the same so results can vary. I do still believe however that further testing by responsible measures can lead to safety equipment becoming better for all involved. Companies who cash in on people's fears and concerns is nothing new though, so as always tread carefully. Hind sight is only useful when it's too late
  20. I think some people are missing the point of the tests. I don't believe that they are there to say "A £400 Arai, Shoei, AGV helmet is a % better than a £50 HJC, tinpot lid to save your skull in a crash". It's there as another way to test safety equipment, which is always good. It makes manufacturers aware that their product maybe has a flaw or could do with extra protection here or there. If the test is flawed so be it. If you like the helmet, buy it anyway. Have they ever said "Don't buy a helmet that has less than 2/3 stars"? Not to my knowledge. At the end of the day, it can only aid to make helmets safer in the long run. So let the manufacturers moan and groan that their goods aren't getting 5 stars or whatever method of scoring is applicable. In the end, a helmet on is better than a helmet off. Doesn't matter what people say as there is only one person ultimately responsible for your skull..... YOU. If you feel more comfortable or can afford to spend £££'s on a lid, do it. If you can only spend £50 or feel better in another helmet, then do that. To hell with anybody else. It's your head, decide on your own
  21. That was going to be my tip Pete about the tights. My step father told me that just after I started riding. He rode bikes in the army years ago. Regardless of what folk may think, as long as it keeps you warm.
  22. According to http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=2168 it's crap. Heavy showers on Saturday, bit of wind, low pressure.... the usual. Much like Scotland
  23. Is the 'no admission after 1000' not just for display vehicles? Or am I reading it wrong?
  24. phil mate, you're welcome to the whisky. It's there to drink but you wont get to half on your own..... hint hint....... so not to worry vicki, I have no clue what time we'll get there. I'm leaving with James but he can't leave until after work so we might not get away till after 6. I've got a 2 man and a 4 man tent here, planning on bringing the 2 man but if it's easier for you to stick the spare up before hand, then I'm perfectly good with that. Just let me know.
  25. Sorry vicki, missed this one earlier. Stuck my name down for both regardless so vote is in. I might bring a nice bottle of whisky along as well
