  1. On really hot days like yesterday, I ride along fine, then slow for a junction, when I pulled the clutch it cut out. Only when shifting from 2nd -1st. When it was going it was ok then slowing it happened. After it cut out it started after a min or so, then had an irratic idle. It's done it a few times before but it's really intermittent

  2. that's how I feel now, let myself progress naturaly rather than try and push without any real idea of why I'm doing things. I went through a phase of trying to get the knee down but it wasn't going to happen.

I think it helped focusing on where I was going rather than what I was doing on the bike, on roads I haven't been on before, then when I've an idea of the appropriate corners to try the technique, I'll give it a go.

  3. thanks for all the replies.

I was playing with it a while ago but didnt notice much difference, I always felt when i tried to hang a bit I was going to slowly to make any real difference. I reckon the last 1000 or so miles ive done I have just stayed on the seat with knees in, not trying for the illusive knee down, I think i've been cornering quicker too, but that might just be more confidence with the dry weather and getting used to the bike more.

  4. Maybe this belongs in bike chat but to me it's a racing technique.

Can somebody tell me the advantage of hanging off, knee down ect.? How does it make you corner quicker, or is it to keep you stable? I've been thinking about this for a while now, would you not have more control fully on the seat with your knees in contact with the bike?

I still say I'm a noob, had my lisecnce 8 months, just watched the ron haslem bike school DVD got me wondering.

  5. Sounds good to me! 9.30 then?

So scarey I couldn't really see but caught up a car that was doing 35 I went and took it not seeing the corner further up, was in a bit hot and hit the rear brake, not much happened so I pulled the front, and it sat up, missed the bollards sheep and the drop, could have been a bad one. Learnt from it though and all is ok.

  6. as the 27th june thread really, meeting at devils or kendal not to bothered.

Riding from devils bridge - Kendal the back way rather than the dual carriageway

then out toward middleton in teeside brew stop

head to brough then kirkby stephens

then take the road to sedbergh

let me know what times are good for meeting and where ect.

  7. Managed it today, didn't need the instructions either!! It was great till I got up to hartside cafe, then on the decent the clouds were low, that combined with my dark visit wasn't too much fun, but only managed to crash once! Not a proper crash just used some of the grass on one of the bends, managed to keep it up right! : )

I'll start a new thread for next week!

  8. Im gonna try it tomorrrow, an see how i get on, any tips on how to remember the route? was thinking of writng all the towns down then following the signs but might end up on the wrong roads? I did this ride about 2weeks ago, but following so i wasnt taking much notice of the way.

oh yeh sunday 5th july good for anyone??

  9. I see, I have seen the inside if a can from a cbr, looked pretty well designed, (three chambers) the can I have is straight through tho won't that have the same or more effect on the fueling than trying to baffle it.

It was just theory so far, thanks for your input. I'm happy with the standard can, but it's massive, the new one is a stubby, I think they are at opposite ends of the scale

    Thanks again! ; )

  10. cheers guys, its not for legality rerally, its for me, i like how it sounds now, but i dont like the look of the standard can.

heres the middle i pulled out

  11. so i got a can i like, but its way too loud, it has a baffle in but its still really loud. I like the look of it so was wondering about how to make it quieter.

here's what i came up with to replace the perforated pipe, 54mm Dia with a conical piece also perforated from 54mm - 38mm dia, or a piece of 38mm perforated tube with a 54mm bung at each end to make up for the gap. Or leave the existing tube as it is, but weld a flat piece of perforated steel at one end to restrict flow.

all these except the last idea will be use in conjunction with a baffle/db killer.

All these will be wrapped in wadding of some sort, (preferable the best for noise reduction)

    heres my sketches:

the main bit is the bit that i took out of the can, i'll get a pic of it in a min....

Will this work for reducing the noise level? should I be thinking of more of a

  12. i just bought the rift 2 piece, 129.99 for the jeans and £199.99 for the jacket, the prices have gone up, when i bought the pants, the jackets were £169.99, but the weak pound has made the foreign leather more expensive.

If you're lucky and find an honest shop they may still have the older (1 month or so) stock at the cheaper price.

  13. So i finally after week of looking bought some rst 2 piece leathers. There are no advice lables on the jacket or the pants on how to clean them, I have some leather cleaner from Auto Glymm which i got for the car also got the leather care cream stuff. The leathers aren't dirty as such just covered in dead bugs.

should i use the auto glymm stuff on my new leathers, or are there other products that are more suited(or are those the same just repackaged for clothing?)?
