This from the website, come one, who's up for it! BikeSafe - Sussex is a partnership between Sussex Police, West & East Sussex County Councils and Brighton & Hove City Council. The whole purpose of Bikesafe, a nation wide scheme, is to reduce casualties among bikers by passing on tips and knowledge, to give an insight to safer, smoother riding and a heightened awareness of possible hazards. The scheme invites motorcyclists to participate in an assessment on their present skills, and advice to help make their riding in and around Sussex safer and more enjoyable. Designed to enhance the skills of all riders who have already passed their test, the courses will be particularly suitable for those who may be returning to biking after a period of absence and also sports bike riders. The assessment day will cost £50 with lunch provided. A copy of the Highway Code and Motorcycle Roadcraft, the police rider's handbook to better motorcycling will also be included It will be run over 6 – 7 hours with a maximum of 12 riders. It will consist of two distinct parts with a theory session in the morning covering topics such as the system of motorcycle control, collision causation factors, attitude, cornering and overtaking. The afternoon session will involve the riders going out with a police rider on a ratio of 2:1 with a comprehensive briefing including safety factors before the ride. By passing on their knowledge, skills and experience, police motorcyclists can help you become a safer more competent rider. At the end of the observed ride there will be a thorough debrief with a written ride summary report. The message we want to give to riders using the county’s roads is to enjoy their biking but make sure their skills match that of their powerful machines. If you are a rider and are serious about staying safe on Sussex roads, you should book onto the BikeSafe course now and have a great day out.

Good to meet you today Tim. Hope you get home ok, I see it is raining over your way.

Ok. I will let you know tomorrow morning what the plan is. You should have a look at Bury Hill. That is just north of Arundel, if you head straight down from Boxhill you should find it. Could meet you there maybe, will let you know tomorrow.
-
Might be about Sunday. Will have to juggle a few things around to make time so will let you know tomorrow sometime. Where will you be coming from on Sunday?

I had a carbon fibre one on my bike but I didn't like it so it went on ebay.

Hi all. Hope you are all ok and having a good start to the new year. I have been looking at the Bikesafe site and see they do Bikesafe days at Worthing Fire Station so would anybody be up for doing the course together in a little group from here? Courses cost £50 for the day. I have sent an email from the Bikesafe website so should hear more info soon. Last years events started in May so who would be up for the first one in May this year? Let me know and we can get something sorted so we can all do it together. http://www.bikesafe.co.uk/Bikesafe/sussex.htm

Hopeing things will pick up soon when the weather starts to get warmer.

Outlets with motobike accessories near Brighton
Paul replied to a topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Hi. Go and see Steve at Bikes of Brighton. It is on the one way bit of Preston Rd just after the lights near the fire station. I went in and told him my budget. He kitted me out no problem and I done quite well at the end of the day. Got everything there, boots, lid, jacket, gloves and neck tube all for just under a grand. I reckon I got about £50 off the jacket, 50 off the trousers, 20 off the boots and 60 off the helmet. Also got my massive(!) chain and lock from downstairs too. I cannot recommend them highly enough, a great bunch. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=Motorcycle+shops+in+Brighton&ie=UTF8&sll=50.825031,-0.263025&sspn=0.029420,0.386045&latlng=50834464,-140008,615200632392882670&ei=OgpMSb7qBpOAowOloJ39DA&cd=2 For any parts I wouldn't hesitate to go to Wemoto in Hove. Again, really sound people to deal with, bought my bike off them (not my duke) after passing my test and they were great. For MOT's I would go to The Motorcycle Centre at the Bell Tower Ind Est near the Marina. They also have a limited selection of gloves and things for your bike, go and see them, they are alright. -

Sure to be going but not sure exactly what day, will have to work out my roster in advance. Promo code is same as last year PROMO3. -
More or less the same as me. We still go on a 'big' ride though at least once a week as long as it is not too wet or icey.

Best place to meet up is either the Guinness bar or the stage bit where the interviews etc are. To the left of the stage is some kind of food hall and a burger van. Between the burger van and the stage is a good bit of open space where you can meet up, I would say go for that. There are self-service ticket machines just opposite the entrance to buy tickets on the day. When we were there we had to wait until 10am before they let us in, wasn't too busy then but later on in the day when we were leaving it was packed, I imagine the weekend will be solid. Loads of stands selling kit but rather disappointingly hardly any of them are doing 'show discounts'. Did manage to get a good deal for my mate when he bought a helmet and visor, managed to save him 60 notes just by haggling. There was a stall there selling different kinds of boots for £20. They looked ok if you are on a tight budget. Had a look at a few of them and one pair the zip didn't work, most were alright but I personally wouldn't buy a pair although for 20 notes they are better than no protection at all. Draggin Jeans were full price, you can get them online cheaper and the Knox gear (backpack etc) were full price too, again look around online to find cheaper. Bit of a weird concept the whole thing making you pay to go in and buy stuff you could get online for cheaper and to look at bikes that you could simply go and look at, at your local dealership. You wouldn't pay to go shopping at Asda would you...... I went because I wanted to go with the lads from work, (instead of going on our usual ride out we made it a bit of a social event) and to take some pictures that I was happy with at the end of the day. Not sure I will go next year to be honest. I believe there is a similar one at the Ally Pally in London so we were talking about just going to that one.

My roster this week gives me Monday/Tuesday off. (Hence why I am going Monday) Next week I get Wed/Thursday off. The following week I get Friday/Saturday off then the Monday/Tuesday again and so on. So every third week I get Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues off. The joys of a four day week......!

If you get stuck here is a brilliant back-pack that I can highly recommend as I own one myself. It has a padded laptop bag seperate that attaches inside, a spare visor pouch and a waterproof helmet bag. Straps over shoulders and waist straps too, fits like a glove. http://www.forthgear.co.uk/product/SixP ... kpack_1251
