  1. What's the best phone? What's the best bike? What's the best whisky? What's the best song? What's the best... Phones are all good nowadays and unless you have a specific niche requirement, then you'll get what you need from just about them all. If you're an Apple geek then you're gonna swear by them and if you're a hater then you'll prefer anything Android, or just anything... Go check them out in the shop with a shortlist in hand and pick the best deal... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Just passed my test a few months ago and my instructor was hot on that topic. He was happy for me to use the engine for braking but insisted I dabbed the brakes enough to keep the drivers behind me aware with a flash of the brake light. I'm still learning but my main aim is always to get through bends, corners, roundabouts or whatever without touching the brakes at all - it's about having the correct speed going into the corner and throttling out smoothly as far as I'm concerned.
  3. How the hell are they gonna stick to budget if it's based on a 10-15 year plan?? Or do you think they've already factored in that we're shipping all the cheap labour out of the country in 2 years time once Brexit kicks in?
  4. One of the guys I work with bought heated gloves a few years ago. Since then he's got a different bike with hatred grips and swears by the grips over the gloves. Dunno if that helps, but he says he'll never buy heated gloves again and will always go for grips instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Rock and hard place. Takes our rights away / helps protect us from attack. Bearing in mind we're probably #2 on the world terrorists shit list behind the US; the only reason we have such a low rate of organised terrorist attacks similar to what we've seen in Europe over the recent past is because of successful surveillance and foiled attacks. At least that's what the government (that we elected) claim. Where do we draw the line between intrusive intelligence and hanging our authorities out to dry if an attack actually gets through? Biggest protection we have against such intrusion is numbers. I hope they're watching my neighbour and not me, but frankly, I don't care because I'm not doing anything wrong anyway.
  6. I'm not sure that the garage will get you a reduction from your insurance company but Asgard claim they have been approved by a Police initiative called ‘Secured by Design’ and are Locksmiths and Insurance approved via the LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board). The LPCB has been working with industry and government for over 100 years, setting the standards needed to ensure that fire and security products perform effectively. When you purchase an LPCB approved product, you know that what you are purchasing will help to reduce the risk of fire and theft. Here's some more vids of some big dude making a lot of noise trying (probably not too hard) to "break-in" to one. "> "> ">
  7. I can't believe how many people I filter past on the daily commute that are using their mobile phones whilst driving. Even though driving at a slow speed you can still spot them a mile off as they weave from one side of their lane to the other. Thanks for your effort in getting the word across that it's just not safe to use a phone whilst driving.
  8. Work on a hangover commences in 50 mins. Train into the big smoke for a day out on the lash interrupted only by a visit to Murrayfield for the Scotland 'vs Argentina match. Last train home tonight and a good part of tomorrow in bed wondering why the feck I'm so stupid... What's everyone else up to?
  9. Before my Mod 1 I spent many evenings in the local Morrisons car park practicing on my 125cc using the white parking lines as my virtual kerbs. I practiced all aspects (except the speed gun obviously) and made the turns tighter and tighter until it became routine and straight forward. By the time I sat my Mod 1 I was as prepared as I could be I think. Knowing "how" is an absolute must so what's been said above is your step 1, but practice is the critical ingredient and often the difference between success and failure. Remember, practice does not make perfect, practice only ever makes permanent. So make sure you're doing it properly when you're practicing... PS. It's easier on the big bike during your test than on the wee 125cc you first learn on.
  10. Looked like great fun and a superb track to play on. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Perfect choice. I passed my CBT end of July and spent 8wks on a CB125F just learning bike roadcraft. I've had a drivers licence for over 30 years but riding a bike and driving a car are quite different things so those 8wks were the best learning I could have done. Passed my Mod1 & Mod2 and went and bought an MT-09 and it really is a great bike. The MT-07 was a bike I considered but the dealer I first looked at told me there was a waiting list so I started to check out the MT-09 and settled on that instead.
  12. My point being, it's not about the poppy - it's about all of the other symbols the other nations find offensive/non-offensive. One person's pleasure is another person's... and all that. I'm no FIFA sympathiser, but in the context of the football match and the impossible situation FIFA are in, where they are trying to be as neutral as possible, perhaps for 90mins the relevant home associations could have recommended the players just wear their strip and play the "game". Now, I'm not belittling the poppy (I'm a wearer and have been directly affected) but I'm hoping this particular controversy and the decision of the FA and SFA to flaunt the rules from FIFA results in the match being annulled and the score reversed... It's the only freakin' chance we'll have of winning that match. Could've played all night and not scored a goal...
  13. I'd ather I had the problem of having to figure out how to get in after a failed break-in, than have the lowlife solve the problem and manage to get in himself.
  14. Agree, that the video show's it's pretty solid, but anyone trying to get in is gonna come in thru the door. In saying that, the door is supposed to have a pick and drill resistant 5 point locking system with heavy deadbolts, fixed from the inside. Let's see, I'll be sure to post a user review once I've got it delivered and assembled.

  16. It's not about Scotland, England, the poppy or the fallen in recent wars. It's about the avoidance of controversy in a sports match. I'm sure there are better examples, but what if Germany plays Israel and wants to wear something to commemorate their fallen in the war, or Japan plays China, or any of the multitude of other countries where controversy and strife still exist. Where do you draw the line and who gets to decide what's ok and what's not? FIFA are on a hiding to nothing so take the only real option they can and that is ban everything and remind everyone that it's a game of football. Nothing stopping the players showing their respect but do they really need to wear a poppy for 90mins on the park to prove it? Another example of how everyone just loves to queue up to take offense at something or other nowadays. Now, I'm getting back to the 2nd half. Can't believe the bloody English are 1-0 up, defo against the run of play. C'mon Scotland.
  17. There was a prison break and I saw a midget climb up the fence. As he jumped down her sneered at me and I thought, well that’s a little condescending.
  18. Joined this forum last week and it would have been handy to have this kind of community to provide input prior to a purchase, but too late now I guess. Bought an Asgard motorbike shed a couple of weeks ago and it's due to be delivered soon. Reviews seem good and I absolutely need somewhere to store the bike out of the weather and a 9x5 Asgard shed looks just the job. Probably shouldn't be posting asking for opinions on something that I've already purchased, but hey ho... Anyway, anyone have anything good to say about the Asgard motorbike shed? I really do hope so because it'll be here in a couple of days.
  19. As a newbie rider who's recently transitioned from a CB125F to a MT-09 Tracer I'd agree the use of ear plugs is a good thing for the big bike and journeys where I know a bit of speed or a long trip is on the cards. However, on my daily commute through Edinburgh, I really feel the benefit of being able to clearly hear not just my own bike but everything else around me. Also, when I first passed my CBT and got myself my 125 I spent 8wks or so just learning the basics and a big part of that was about getting the experience of how other road users behaved around me. Clear crisp hearing without ear plugs to dampen things helped me because I tried with and without and definitely preferred the latter. e.g. Think of it in the same way as you did when first passing your car test - it felt really weird driving the car with the radio on for the first time because it was a new distraction - same deal for me with the ear plugs in. Totally used to it now however and wouldn't hit the motorways or a long journey without them. As for the speed thing - been well covered by everyone else. Feeling vulnerable on a 125cc when learning is certainly something that's perfectly normal (at least in my opinion) and if you do move up to a bigger more stable bike you'll be amazed at the difference. Take your time - confidence grows with ability - ability grows with experience. You can't beat miles on the clock to improve your confidence, ability and experience. At least that's my $0.02c worth after a whole 2.5k miles worth of experience. I probably don't know what the hell I'm talking about.
