1. I'm in west wales and if you fancy a ride over this way just let me know as I'm free most days and ride a nc750x and more then happy to go for a ride most days as long as it's not raining
2. Can I have 985 please
3. Also bud reading the gov uk website the mod 2 has to be done on the same size motorbike classification as the mod 1 so seeing as you did the mod 1 on a 600 you have to do mod 2 on a 600
4. Or there is a few middleweight cruiser motorbikes that are shaft driven one which comes to mind is my old Suzuki intruder m800.
5. In all honesty I will be riding manual bikes in the near future as I'm doing the er courses in prep for being a blood biker here in west wales and the three main bikes they have are the manual nc750x the gsxf 1200 and fjr1300
6. Hey guys just an update I test rode the Africa twin manual and dct also tried the vstrom 650 and the tiger 800 xcx but in the end I went with the nc750x dct as I got a good deal on it nearly new with 700 miles Honda heated grips and a Honda top box for 5800
7. Also most scooters tend to have linked braking so you pull the back brake and it will also engage the front brake a bit.
8. TBH I went down the automatic route myself back in dec 2016 I did all my training on a Bergman 400 and test can be hard on an large scooter for different reasons like a larger turning circle and a nasty habit of rolling off the throttle on right turns and scooters aren't as "flickable" as a large bike for the hazard avoidance. I decided at the beginning of this year that it was better and cheaper in the long run to get my full A license on a manual bike as in the year I had the Bergman it was really expensive to get replacement parts new or second hand and once I had my full A license I part exed my burgman in and bought a Suzuki intruder. In total once I got used to riding with gears it was so much nicer. Also like others have said you have alot more choice of bike and if you still want a automatic after you pass then go for it but atleast you'll have a choice with the manual license.
9. As I read the situation in my opinion is you plan on using a 125 to gain a year's no claims then I I would ride it on the cbt then whilst the cbt is still valid do the theory mod 1 and mod 2 also I would suggest getting a new lid as if the lid you have was when you had the 125 in 03/04 then the foam in the helmet will have deteriorated and will not offer the necessary protection
10. Honda also have the dct gear box in the vfr1200 now and its a shaft drive to boot but alas too much on the insurance for me also as Gerontious says it is very frugal and as it is a bike I use everyday in Pembrokeshire I ofton currently fill the tank 2 times a week
11. First the reason I'm considering the nc750x is like I said I'm 6"4 of which 3/5 is leg length and second is that I think the adventure ish style is more suited to how I ride more so than the cruiser style of the intruder as with thinking about gears I have only riding geared for a total of 4 months as I was doing an enhanced rider and came in to a bend slightly too fast for the bike and in all honesty my skill set at the time which meant I came off and it led to 9 weeks off the bike with a broken wrist. The only reason that I think about the gears is so I know what gear im in at all times also unlike most modern bikes my intruder doesn't have a gear indicator on it and before anyone says it no I don't have an after market one on either but if I keep it I will get one put on
12. Hi ppl I need some advice as the situation is I've got a Suzuki intruder m800 which I have came off a few months ago and still don't feel 100% confident with. Also the bike I was considering replacing it with is a Honda nc750x dct and I chose this one after a few test rides as I thought it was more accommodating to my 6"4 frame and being automatic it was one less thing to think about whilst riding thanks in advance for your opinions
13. Don't stress it too much @scox91 as many on here will say alot of us didn't pass mod 2 first time as I took 2 attempts for both my A2 and full A.
14. My first legal bike in 2009 was a Moto-Roma GP 125 in metallic blue but I didn't look after it at all and after riding it for11 months went for a ride got halfwayto my mothers which was 16 miles from me and all I heard was bang clatter as the end can sheared clean off the exhaust pipe oops
15. Just picked this up today
16. What a day had mod 2 booked for 9:17 gets there examiner was 10 mins late but got going then stalled the bike on a roundabout whith traffic approaching but moving on does all the normal stops and that then pulled up at the start of the independent ride then boom the damned bike wouldn't start after 5 minutes of me and the examiner trying to start the bike i put the steering lock on and examiner took me back to the test centre but he said that he would check with his management team if he could retest me for free as he put it down to exceptional circumstances and they said yes as long as he had a free slot so my instructor takes his van and picks up the bike and a few hours later we go back to the test centre with a different bike (same make and model) does the test route and yee bloody haa I passed with 5 minors and hopefully picking up the Suzuki intruder m800 on Friday
17. Had my my mod 2 today and unfortunately I didn't pass as stalled the bike 4 times 3 minor to major junction and 1 major to minor junction but I have to admit partially down to nerves and also my hands were freezing cold from the snow
18. Just to let you know that I have my mod 2 tomorrow for the full A licence and totally bricking it as I am still stalling on my lessons also I'm a bit notorious for forgetting to do lifesaver but I know all I have to do is be totally on the ball for about 40 minutes and relax and don't panic
19. 57 for the E stop and 52 for the swerve. Also don't know why but most ppl tend to be a bit slower on the swerve for some reason
20. Not sure about a restricted bike but bikesure covered my burgman 400 with a 2 month learning period but any time I was on the bike i had to be accompanied by an instructor
21. I had my mod 1 for the full A licence yesterday and as normal for me I was full of test nerves so as I pulled up on the other side of the gate I stalled the bike. Then I parked in the green box and left it in gear so had to pull the clutch in for the manual handling of the bike but after that the rest went well with 57 first time on the E stop and 52 first time on the swerve then back inside the examiner told me I had passed with 2 minors. 1st minor was for the stall 2nd minor was for going slightly to fast on the slow ride
22. Well done bud and to let you all know I did it all last Feb for a2 auto and hopefully will pass the test first time on the gladius this time
23. Bender fist time I was doing mod 1 with my instructor and binned it on the emergency stop 2nd was the day after I passed my test it was raining on muddy country lanes 3rd was in fairness lack of experience and finally the last time I had just had a new back tyre put on and a loose throttle tightened up so picked up too much speed on the Bergman approaching a speed bump in panic I pulled the brakes too hard and the backslid out
