  11. sat and had a cup of tea got togged up and went for a spin on my t80, during this 40 mile a hour ride it went around and around in my head its charging at the stator its working at the regulator why is it not getting to the battery ..then it hit me it had to between the regulator and the battery rushed home now with a idea in my head, disconnected the connecter from the regulator to the battery there it was staring me in the face the pin was greener than my lawn as I tried to clean the pin the wire fell off so after cleaning things up the wire was soldered back on the pin , put the pin in to the block joined the two halves to gether fired her up put the nullity metre on the battery 14 .5 volts made another cup of tea and drank it with a silly contented grin as the bike sat there ticking over
  12. just checked the generator 28 on all coils then the regulator that checked out ok5 on each pin , but the battery reads 12 then drops to 11,60 when you run the engine im going for a cup of tea and a think anyone got any good ideas

  14. don't lose heart ,with the bike , easy to say as I know how frustrating the bloody things can be, chill out some one will come to your aid just do things you understand even if its only cleaning it, with out trying to confuse you even more sounds like you have a short in the started wiring but don't worry as the weekend is going to be shit weather so you wouldn't have gone out on the bike anyway

  16. there right bast*rds some times it seems that the most simple thing cause them to not start bit like my daughter , sounds to me that you need some one who knows what there doing ,needs to have a look at your bike like if it bump starts ,,not in your flat ,, its got to be the starting electrics so battery starter switch wiring to starter or even the starter I had a right problem with mine put a new loom on in the end , then it started only to play up turned out to be a duff plug altho it was new, now its not charging if I can be any help with some electric al wiring parts let me know
  17. hi been reading your post I have had fun with my xr , two questions is the kill button working, give it a bit of wd40 and second question is it a 04 or 03 model mine is 04 on the plate but 03 on the model cos they are different in a few ways my 03 starts with out touching the clutch I have quite a few spares in the wiring department loom even have a new loom hope you can sort your bike out soon

  19. I ve got a 03 xr after a lot of head scratching it runs turned out to be a duff plug mind you it was new anyway now its going ive noticed its not charging, now I know the regulators on later Hondas are prone to early failure but as there rather expansive I wont to be sure as to what it is will test the yellow wires out of the alternator , as I understand it if I put my multy metre on two yellow wires on dc it will give me 18 volts , if ive got this right is there any other common problems to check
