  1. I hope you've posted to the newbies section to introduce yourself - Welcome to the forum. The zorst needs to be loud. Loud pipes save lives. I got an unbaffled exhaust on my triumph, and it isn't massively loud, but it certainly alerts people when I'm near. I am betting it saved my skin. Especially since most people's eyes are glued to their phones, instead of the road.
  2. Bad start to the day for many, but not anywhere near as bad as this man's day... http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/man-who-died-m5-parked-475165 After 30 miles of pure filtering through stationary queues, I had my first dose of "why I always need a bike". It was a long trip from Bristol, down the M4, and up the A38, squeezing past uncountable amounts of vehicles. Most people were stranded for up to four hours. I heard rumors about it, but the news was up and telling most of the story. This man's van allegedly broke down and sat on the hard shoulder, while he was said to have been stood in lane 1. A lorry collided with him, sending him into the paths of other vehicles, who also collided with him. Horrible start to the day, and my thoughts are with the family of the deceased, as well as the drivers of the vehicles who hit the guy. They will be in a real state of shock, following the incident. Be careful out there, guys. This is why you should get OFF the motorway if you exit your vehicle in the event of a breakdown. The incident took place at around 4:40am, when it would have been very dark.
  3. Cheers, guys. I got me some pads on the way, so I'll wait until it isn't heaving it down and go at it. Yup, the outer pad is worn and the other is still OK, as in a couple more mm on it. I am going to see if I can find some new seals and clean it up.
  4. Pretty simple stuff. Cheers Just got to find a half decent pair of pads.
  5. Hi all, My Sprint RS 955i (2003) is getting horribly close to the metal on the rear calliper pads... Well, one of them is dangerously low. So, I am going to change them, but having trouble finding the right pads - as in finding ones that I know are, beyond reasonable doubt the correct pads. Probably get these : https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/52687 I have done pads before on a ZZR once (and that was the first time). It was eventually a success, after destroying the bleed "nipple", as it had seized, and having to buy another calliper. I managed to get the brakes to squeeze again. Has anyone got any tips? (not ABS)
  6. Has to go to yet another cyclist that I see every day trying to end up as a bag of minced up bone and flesh. Was filtering to the right with another biker in front, and a cyclist on the left of the queue. Cyclist decided to throw himself to get in front of me, on my side, only to cut in front the bonnet of a car that started to move forwards. Driver gave loud beep and the cyclist just continued as if nothing happened.
  7. I'd probably be up for a ride out one weekend. I'm in the Mangotsfield area (yellow triumph sprint RS). Hopefully more people will pop their 2p in and be up for it. It's been years since I went out for a group ride.
  8. Me. Get up, tired as fk, put gear on, go outside, unlock the Triumph Sprint, turn the key, hit the starter and nearly drain the battery trying to fire up. Eventually realise that it is in gear...
  9. Lucky I got the mechanic to do it because I literally have not enough time to make a cuppa anymore. In cylinder 1, the sparkplug was missing the compression ring, and there was evidential damage to the inner thread inside the head. There was oil over the top and onto the lead and the inner walls of the head for cylinder 1, and a little on number 3. Hopefully the new plugs will be ok... but someone would have had to wind and unscrew the ring to get that off the plug... why? The air intake, part of that had been snapped off. So, somebody had been messing with it. What a bloody mess. TF is wrong with people? All fixed now and purrs.
  10. I found this collection - http://tuneecu.com/Tune_List.html I'll have a go with these later when I get home. It is booked in for new plugs, oil, filter, and air filter tomorrow. CBA to do it myself, so I'll pay my local mechanic to do it. Hopefully it starts
  11. So, I have a lovely yellow Triumph with the triple engine (the colour is important, because... it is) - which had the weediest sounding exhaust in the universe. I replaced it with a blue flame pipe that has no baffle. It sounds freakin' awesome compared to before, and I am not putting the old one back on without a fight. It isn't "too" loud at all. I think it's just right not to upset the neighbours and just enough for people to hear me coming up the middle in traffic. My question is - does anyone know of where to find, or have a fuel map suitable for it? It feels like it's holding back slightly at times. I had a little trouble starting it this morning, and it's the second morning starting it from cold. The first morning wasn't a problem at all - but this morning was a little cold outside. After a few go's, I left the clutch out when trying, and just hit the starter instead. It clicked and I kept my thumb down on it for a few seconds. I tried again - clutch in, start, and vrrooom! The only fault codes on it were about the fuel gauge relay, which I'll deal with. One thing that I hate about this bike is that when it rains (every soddin' day, ever, since England was invented), the inside of the fuel cap gets water inside. There is a little lip around the inside hole, and the outer bit seems to pool with water. I swear some of this is getting into the tank.
  12. Cheers guys. It seems like a worst case scenario with my ex, because she literally is the devil. To add salt to the wounds, she's gone and told CMS that I haven't paid child support, to the amount of 4k. And they have already dipped into one of my accounts and taken over 1k out without writing to me first. I now need to trawl through my banks to prove that she's had payment in full, each month. One nail at a time she is sealing my coffin. It won't be long now if the DWP don't sort it
  13. Guys, This one is totally off-topic to all things motorbike related (I know), but I wanted to get people's perspectives and any good advice from others. Basically, I own a property (modern two bed apartment in Leicestershire), which myself and my ex wife are joint owners of, on deeds and mortgage. We broke up in 2014 and I have a son with her (he's 4 this year). We broke up due to personal differences, and it was an abusive relationship - but I grew a pair after over 8 years of it, and I pushed back the demands to go back with her. She turned into my worst nightmare (even more than when we were together), by destroying my mother's artwork (she passed away in November 2014), and never letting me see my son. I have been paying through the nose in child support since, because the DWP are relentlessly on her side, and she is receiving housing benefit to rent out from a private landlord. Somehow, she had managed to close the joint account, forcing the mortgage into 4 months arrears (5 months before I could fix it). I had to work down in the south west, so didn't get to go to the property very often anymore. But as far as I knew the mortgage was still being paid in full - and then I returned to see the letters on the doorstep. I had to chuck every penny I had left at the lender to stop litigation and court action. I decided it would be best to rent the property out because she point blank refused to move back in or have anything to do with the apartment, which she is still joint liable. I had no choice about living there because I was working in the south west and having to back and forth to London regularly to look after my dad since my mum passed away - which also lead to more arguments over letting me visit to see my son. Now, I totally have no contact with her, the mortgage product has gone back to default (costing me more per month), and I have no way to sort anything out. I had to rent it out for the past 2 years to literally just pay the mortgage while I was out, but now that tenancy has come to an end, and I am on the brink of giving up. I don't want to make money off it, but in reality I want it sold and gone. The whole way through, she has been trying to cripple me financially and puts her head in the sand in regards to responsibility for the property. She totally cut off all communication so I have no idea if my son is even alive and well. After all of this, I can't chuck any money at a solicitor and think the entire system is a mess. She's been able to get away with murder, when all I ever did to her was stand up to her and try to get away from the abuse. Now, I can't remove her name from the mortgage and deeds, I can't change the mortgage product, and I can't sell. Can she claim housing benefit while she is in charge of a property that is effectively being rented out? She has never paid a penny into the mortgage, in fact she took tens of thousands out of the joint account before shutting it down. I am trying to arrange to visit the CAB, but hopefully somebody has some advice. Cheers guys.
  14. Motorbike theft is through the roof, especially in big cities. We need something more to-the-point. Something more aggressive... more like the judge, jury, and the executioner in one package. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRNVxHPJ0hM
  15. Cheers - I'll check out some more cameras. The most important thing is battery life, memory size, and picture quality. I have two in my car that are pretty poor quality. I do at least 2 hours a day on the bike, so the memory and battery need to be fairy beefed up.
  16. Why would you do that? These type of youtube vids and the associated outrage at other people's driving are voyeuristic crap. I always think that the posters are holier than thou prats. ......Remember we all have our stupid moments when driving / riding on the roads. It's actually rare for me to post any clips. It's good to have a laugh at some of the mild stupidity, but most importantly to take away the awareness of certain situations that might unfold. It's good to educate by means of sharing clips during certain encounters, where some inexperienced drivers might benefit from seeing. That's the only reason I would upload any. I have seen a lot on some clips that drill home just how quickly, and unexpectedly an accident can occur - especially on 2 wheels. You'll see a situation unfold on a clip and think, "I'm glad I saw that. I'll remember not to ever position myself there on the motorway in future". But, you are right - the majority are "holier-than-thou" morons who somehow think they are posting up a clip to shame someone, when it turns out that THEY are usually in the wrong. And, to add salt to the wounds (because they do get very verbal), the cam-vehicle is usually hogging the middle lane - that gets pointed out the most. People usually just upload the clips for attention, but it backfires, and triggers a wave of abuse - which is why I would rarely post anything. The better ones are people who post up their own clips of mistakes they make, like turning down a one way in the wrong direction - that sort of thing. If anything it is educational... but you have to be pretty bored to watch most of it. I won't bother putting them up on youtube - there's bikers all over there filming their riding, screaming at drivers, having a riot. Personally, my only purpose for the bike cam will be insurance - because you damn well need one. My rides are usually boring, and I can't be bothered to take the memory card out to take off a clip, unless it's serious. It would be a couple of hours of me riding along, a bit of filtering, and the sound of wind. Not good TV. Half of the stupid stuff I see is common as old muck, so it would have to be something spectacular before I would even consider showing anyone the clip.
  17. So, what cameras have you got, and what is great about it? Do you have a socket fitted to charge it? I am looking to buy a camera asap. I have two cameras in my car and I put the worst footage up on Dash Cam Footage (on Facebook), but no cameras on the bike. The amount of times I wish I had a camera on me on the bike is unreal. I see so many instances of bad driving each day. It's hard to find a good one on eBay because, unless money is no object, you don't know if you are getting a bargain or a piece of cheap slop.
  18. I'm not 100% with the prices, so you can make me offers. I have sold the carbs, handle-bars and risers, seat, and a couple of other bits that I can't think of... But most of it is still here. Some of it is on eBay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/hkw_sales/m.html?item=142369213192&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Make me offers if you need anything.
  19. Listing it for sale now. Still not running right and I literally can't find the effort to take it to bits yet again to diagnose the same problem that temporarily goes away when I replace, or fix something.
  20. First test went well (up on centre stand on planks, in each gear, and front weighted down). I have learnt to ride up the hill to test it, to avoid the long, awkward push of shame. I'll try to video the whole ride when I take it out for test 2
  21. Just shoved the breather down the front, but wasn't restricted in any way. It's always Good idea to get these things checked. The site stand switch is now off, so we will see what happens when I get up and try it. It's so bloody loud that everybody watches you so if you break down, they all see. Sod' s law
  22. Just about to check that, stu It just suddenly stops. I am also disconnecting the side stand switch for a bit. Been sat in the phone for ages and dying to get on with this bike.
  23. This is today's test, without riding it. I have cleaned the terminals, the solenoid was rust ridden around the terminals, but all sanded and clean, but listen to this... I'm so hesitant to ride it. I absolutely hate it cutting out on me, but I can almost guarantee it will cut. We shall see... Here's the video: https://youtu.be/UQ4gs8XrDQo
  24. I'll have it all apart in the morning and cleaned up with the remainder of the carb cleaner . They're looking furry and green even on the outside. Battery terminal spark nearly made me cack when shorted. I could do with replacing the wiring, anyway. It looks very old... 27 years old, I think. Cheers for your help. After replacing battery, calipers, pads, fairings, sparks, coils, leads, fuses, CDI, rear wheel, chain and sprockets, oil, and filter, plus all the work done to it, I think it's long overdue that I use it. It's a bit cold and dark now so I'll update on it tomorrow, most likely
