  1. just waiting on my sparkplug removal socket coming in post so i can check, in the meantime any other symptoms i can check? I read about a water test flick a bit of water at the engine block and if it fizzles its too hot. before the carb adjustment water did fizzle, now it dosent so running cooler for sure but still seems hot. Can touch it for a few seconds before the heat becomes too much and not taking 2 and a half hours to cool now I cant feel the heat of the engine when im riding, and no noticeable burning smells or engine issues , Shes running like a dream throttle is a lot more responsive power is there a lot quicker than before If she is running to hot and my needle is low as can be now, the soloution would be chaning the jets to let more fuel in but am thinking is it worth getting into that much tuning (its a slow four stroke end of the day lol) tldr: ways to tell engine too hot aside from sparkplug.
  2. took about 40 mins to be able to hold hands on for more than a second or so. still warm but not burnng hot , running too hot still maybe?
  3. Haha im glad too just done a quick run out up a duel carrigeway, 60mph into headwinds and not full revs so defo improvment, would drop to 55-even 50 in headwinds at times still feels a lil hot, though im not sure how hot is too hot, water fizzles off instantly when it touch's the main engine, however last night before adjusments it did the same on the cam shaft (no longer does) took 2 and a half hours to cool last night to a touchable amount gonna see today how long. At worst i can fit my old airbox and filter have got them handy but will see Sounds like an absolute beast when you open the throttle now hahaha see people looking expecting a big harley or something and its me on an ancient 4 stroke 125
  4. yeah it was sticking i found some gunk stuck near the bottom holding it open got rid of that when i re-fitted it she sounding lovely now! and such a nice day i think i may just have to go for a lil ride out, purely for testing reasons ofc... "> ^^
  5. omg joe that worked!! thanks man! just re adjusted the needle and set it back up, runs fine hopefully that will stop her running so lean and engine wont get so hot. Thank you so much Joe i woulda been stumped without your help
  6. its here on this pic though, and the manual shows the slight incave on the chamber goes towards the right, on the pic you can see were its marked from resting on a pin, other way round it wont rest on anything wonder if something else has buggerd up since i moved the carb?
  7. it can sit other way round but it only goes this low down , does still move with throttle though.
  8. the hole is just in one side gonna try turning it round and see, i think it sits higher if i turn it, will check now and post results. setup like this it still dosent start .
  9. it does move when i use the throttle yeah, https://youtu.be/qKCo5Qv7Ads is that working right? just looking at that gap when its sat .
  10. cheers joe i'll check that now and yeah thats how it came apart im sure, the manual says it goes back togther that way to.
  11. Thtas the order im rebuilding it, with the speed cable through the spring and hooking underneth in the notch. the casing can sit high or low in the carb chamber but im sure it should be low down not higher? shoulda left this alone me thinks

    wiring help

Heya guys ive got this new speedo (mechanical, digo one was too much faff about) anyhow its come with totally diff wiring to the instructions -.- anyone help me out with this? on the orgianl sr125 setup the wires go from a block to the bulbs, on this new one they all go onto the unit and everything is solderd down, however the wires dont seem to split the same as the yam either so far i have the indicaters bulb flickering but works correctly when you use either side, the neutral light works correctly and the main beam light comes on when i flick down to side lights on the orgianl sr125 setup the wires go from a block to the bulbs, on this new one they all go onto the unit and everything is solderd down, however the wires dont seem to split the same as the yam either the backlight dosent come on any help be greatly appricated have enclosed pics to show what im at.: the old sr125 wiring setup new wiring were i am so far wires soldered to bulbs. red wire connected to base of unit and is the red wire that has an attachment red and yellow on new unit both hot glue gunned to the blak/white cable and link to a small chip board under the dial
  17. awsome im glad its normal then I just wasnt sure if it was an issue or not, thanks for all the advice folks .
  18. atm it usually only needs about 3 seconds of it then i switch off, runs fine
  19. Ive purchased a full set of this stuff, it can be found on ebay easaily, im not linking as per forum rules the jackets and trousers are £39.99 and the gloves are £12.99 as a starter set on a budget they seem great pros: *features, armour pads in key areas, shoulders and knees, backplate and arms they have reflective stripes and come in various colours. *have a removal underlay that can be washed *waterproof *price is good *very nice and comfy in cold weather *have survived a small low speed crash with no damage so i think the textile strength is good *jacket can zip into the trousers to help keep water out and everything can be tigthed via velcro+ties. *high viz stripes built into the kit cons: *not a well known brand i dont think *very warm even with underlay removed i would'nt fancy a long ride in high heat in them *gloves are very thick, and make throttle control feel a bit akward but nothing major limited style+colour options my experiences: Have been wearing this set for a month now, still fine no stitching coming off or anything lol, have had a low speed crash in it (30mph) survived the impact no problems, no rips or tears not even a scuff just mucky and washed right out. will update in future if they dont last long. Have rode in pretty heavy rain for 30 mins in this stuff and stayed stone dry its very comfortable and heavy padded so feels the business as well. as a starter set i think its worth the money full set for 82 quid how long it will last time will tell as its not a big brand however i recognise the company who helps make it , 3m who supply my work place with velcro strips funny enough lol just adding my experiences in case any new people spotted this stuff on ebay and wonderd what its like .
  20. My lil yamaha sr125, ruby now ive touched up her paintwork and add'd some decals
  21. They that bad Hoggs? lol if i go for DAS before my cbt is up makes sense defo to just go right for DAS. my train of thought was im going to pay 100 ish for cbt if i dont get DAS before mines up which might happen, so just spend that £100 on the a1 and i can take a passenger in mean time while i save for the DAS and not worry about getting it funded before my CBT runs out. see what ya saying though why do the test twice if you dont need to for sure.
  22. ah ok lol i thought it was just for really bad mornings like ice/snow conditions didn't think it was cold enough to need the choke atm. Im new to bikes, can you tell?
  23. Ok so im thinking of going for the a1 license im 33 and yes i can do Das but thats a hell of a lot of money lol The way im thinking atm is im going to be paying £100 In two years for cbt in the event i dont get the money togther for das (a possabilty) or i could just pay that £100 soon and not have to worry about passing anything till im ready for the big time(skill and money wise) + i can take a passenger a big selling point for me, would really like to be able to take the wife about on rides out. What ya reckon guys, worth it? or just stick with the cbt and l plates for another year or so then just go for DAS, which i will be going for when its affordable, paying off ruby now and holidays etc so not atm all this is on the assumption i can use ruby on the a1 tests. Cheers.
  24. Nah fires up first time no problem with choke, some mornings dont need the choke at all if its just the cold happy days
  25. nob leaving the policestation pulling out in front of me and then giving me a "thanks" wave for letting him out as im screaching too a halt grrrrrr.
