  1. paid £60 for mine, did oil change ,tyre pressure, chain lube and clean general health check and lubed all cables / levers (he even straightened up my gear lever were it bent from a fall at no charge bless him lol ) woulda been £90 if i wanted breaks and air filters doing but i had already fixed those, just couldnt get bolt off for the oil sump so had to get it removed .
  2. https://sharp.dft.gov.uk/helmets/agv-numo/ £229 https://sharp.dft.gov.uk/helmets/halfords-myx/ £35 Im happy enough.
  3. Please tell you don't actually go out on a motorbike with one of these on your headhttp://i.imgur.com/u4aJOJi.png http://www.halfords.com/motoring/motorcycling/motorcycle-helmets/myx-full-face-motorcycle-helmet 4 star sharp rating and im on a sr125 so thats safe enough for me im usually cruising at 50-60mph when i get a bigger bike i'll invest in something better obv.
  4. your probs overthinking it as hoggs says, i still catch myself doing the same in wet weather as im still a bit nervous it seems (crap tyres and few offs in rain apparntly have scarred my brain )and start to over analyse my riding once that starts, turns i can take at 40mph+ without a thought suddenly become 15mph battles of wills between me and the bike lol Relax, practice and go with it try not to over think it
  5. im still sporting a halfords own brand so cant find visors that fit (yey) so for myself i just ever so slightly raise the visor to make a small gap, that sorts it out for me. at speed i dont have a fogging problem and can seal it back up (thus far) those inserts seems best bet if you can get one to fit your lid though
  6. seems silly to quit because of a silly mistake buddy be worth another shot surely.
  7. Yamaha sr125 current and first bike loving it!, looking to do big test next year and upgrade to a yamaha fazer 600cc was a lush one in my local dealership, electric blue £1999.
  8. Looks fine to me, ive done worse tbh
  9. The symptoms sound like my bike when i was playing about with my air filter and carb . is it a case of throttle seems to work fine until you go over about a 1/3 of a twist then power starts to vanish, + little bursts of power untill you open fully then nothing?. I think like fastbob says its an air filter problem, your spark condition will help confirm this. Hopefully its just a knackered air filter pad mate i'd check along the lines going to your airbox as well and from the carb and engine make sure they are not cracked or any visible holes, or that they are not kinked/trapped.
  10. Lmao joe yeah its seen better days (good job the rest of my desk isnt in shot)
  11. just an update got my spark plug socket and took the plug out, and this is the results. it seems the correct colour and such to me, from what ive read on charts online so im happy shes running cool enough, would you guys agree this is the right colour?
  12. I'll look into that mate, i only paid 2 quid so im not surprised tbh lol
  13. Bought this as i needed a helemt (was on my way to buy my bike, 10 mins after cbt ) Certifed 4/5 on the sharp rating plain black, quick release visor and only £20! The lining comes out so can be washed which is a plus and it has a few vents on the sides and top/front only the front two can be opened or closed though. Pros: *Cheap *decent sharp rating *visor and lining easy to remove to clean *Nice snug fit, comfortable *decent chin strap with snap shut buckle and adjustable. cons: *two months in some of the fittings are quite loose now, the chin piece to keep draft out has fell off (lol) *no idea on visor replacements, and if you can even get them to fit this helm * Very drafty at high speed * Scratches easily, quite a few little nicks and scratches from road debris. overall, served its purpose got me road legal though will be replacing asap, Handy if you need a lid in a fix or as a spare for passengers but on anything over my 125 i think it would be far to open to the cold and wind noise would be quite harsh i'd think.
  14. bought and fitted one of these, there like £1.99 or something silly from china on ebay. died after one day lol no damaged wiring, no burn out just simply stopped functioning. Save ya money lol
  15. Im only just starting to use my back brake i tend to use my front to bring my speed down along with engine breaking and then as i get to a slower speed i will start to ease the back brake in along with the front I think using my back and front together on my first off made me overly wary of it as the driver behind me, also a biker she told me saw my bike wheel lock and spin me out. Ive had a few rear wheel skids while i was trying to work out it out but nothing to bad, just let the brake off and corrects itself . so my experience of back brake so far is to use it only for low speed manoeuvres or in conjunction with the front brake at below 40mph any higher speed for me it seems to do very little or lock and skid. 2 months in saddle just sharing my experiences take it as you will *as an edit i forgot to say ive never had a front forks bottom out on me, or even close even with quite quick stops, if thats cause im using the back brake as well or cause just wasnt fast enough idk .
  16. A friend of mine is moving back up north and bringing his Honda shadow 750 up with him, maybe i can convince him to let me have a little spin on it see how i feel on something a bit bigger (private land obv not public roads) i'll have to have a chat with the school, tbf i could just bang it on my credit card and pay it off that way though i dont know what size bike im gonna be happy with, i dont think i will feel comfortable on something really big im not a speed junkie That said last month doing 60 felt fast and had me over alert and hyper vigilante, now im finding it very underwhelming and wanting to move on
  17. Thanks for the insight mate I might just leave it for the time being then
  18. Ive just had a google of them hmm lots of small screw in type things... im assuming a lot of fiddly take the carb to pieces and rebuild type stuff on a very low chance of gains? lol
  19. im prety sure shes fine heat wise now had a good run out and still hand touchable on the lower engine just the main block was a bit hot but not fizzing water hot cooled down in 20 mins on the back of all this tinkering do you guys think its worth chaining the jets while im at it? can get this kit for £30 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232226728249?redirect=mobile would it give any benefit you think considering my engine is only 12bhp? (apparntly though i dont think its that high imho)
  20. i really like my phone holder and usb charger fab for putting sat nav on or a gps speedo cloths wise not a lot of experience but love my jacket, waterproof, padded and light. lush and warm with the inlay fitted as well.
  21. Everything happens for a reason and while it sucks now you never know what the future will bring, try not to dwell on the past and look forward to the future, (and getting back on the bike!)
  22. I bought my textile gear online, sizing guides were pretty good so no problems really, i bought helm in a store so i could try it on and see what i was getting, if there was a bike store in sunderland i woulda check them out though.

    Starting problems

yeah more info buddy, does it not start with choke in also?
  24. i priced up those sheds when i got my bike, considering i paid £850 for my bike, £500 on a shed seemed a bit daft lol Ive got a chain (16" so can resist all but the biggest bolt cutters) a ground anchor, a cctv cam that hooks up to my pc and iphone (£50!) and an alarmed padlock from work (£10) Way i see it if they want my bike there gonna get it so i would advise just make it as secure as you can for a reasonable amount of money, enough to deter your average chav and you should be good A bike cover and some tarpaulin keep the worst of the weather off when i upgrade to something worth nicking then i might look into something a bit more secure like a wooden shed
