  1. Took it out today, pulls through the revs in every gear now. Sorted
  2. It certainly is, I must not have tightened it up properly. Silly person.......
  3. I might be on to something...I don't think this is how it should look when you open the float bowl!!! http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq88/stevie16v/IMG_20151.jpg I'm hoping this is what the issue has been. Wish I'd opened up the carbs the last 3 times they were off! Fitted new plugs aswell. Unfortunately when I was cranking the bike the battery Ko'd. SO got it on charge just now but won't get a chance to take it out because I need to leave for work at 3. Fingers crossed!
  4. It was spotless when I took it apart, but I think it might be an idea to do it again and clean them. For all the time it takes once the carbs are off the bike anyway
  5. I'm going to try that tomorrow but I'm fairly certain everything is snug. Got new plugs on order too.
  6. HT Leads look ok but I haven't tested their resistance yet. Battery is good and fully charged. Air filter is pretty clean, certainly not dirty enough to cause problems from my experience. I've got to work today so it'll take a back seat until tomorrow and I'll go out and check again for air leaks, but I'm pretty sure it's all tight
  7. I've set it to the factory (2 turns out) and at idle it runs fine apart from that occasional drop in the revs with the pop. It's strange, only way I can describe it is if you think about driving a car, if you've ever hit the rev limiter on it the power tails off as you reach it then it just sits at a set amount of revs. That's the closest I can think of
  8. I've only been able to check one spark plug, the front one is a nightmare to get out without the correct tool. Which I'm currently waiting on. It seemed ok, no strange deposits etc. I'm at the point where I might strip the carbs back down AGAIN! and give it another cleaner through because it's really winding me up
  9. Incredibly comfy! Like being seated in an arm chair! Just a pity I can't get the thing to go over 60mph or 5k revs!
  10. Looking for some help here, I've posted a thread on the deauville forum too but was hoping you guys could chip in. Long story short the bike in neutral will rev through the range, in 1st it will go up a fair bit (I haven't red lined it) In second the power dies off at 5-6k revs. In 3rd and above she just struggles to get over 5k revs. She doesn't misfire when she runs out of puff. Also when idling, every now and then she misses a beat and there's a click from the carb area Here's a video "> So far I've done the following Stripped and cleaned carbs - No tears in rubber bits etc Clean fuel Ran without the fuel pump, and fuel filter to narrow it down. Checked to ensure no kinks in fuel pipes etc Ensured all carb rubbers are seated correctly Checked throttle sliders are moving freely and also the butterflies open fully balanced carbs and ensured fuel mix is close to factory setting. I'm at an end as to where to go other than possibly spark plugs, but I'm reluctant to throw money at her. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
  11. I had been on the hunt for a deauville for a few months but didn't have much cash to spare, so it was proving difficult. But I came across this little hidden gem. She had been neglected on he bodywork but wanted for nothing mechanically. I've spent the last couple of weeks tidying her up and managed to get her out on her maiden voyage with Donkey at the helm today. I am very happy with her, hadn't been on a bike for a couple of years after an accident but I felt at ease in the saddle. I've still got a bit more to do to her but I think you'll agree she is tidying up well. I've created a photobucket album for anyone that wants a look. http://s436.photobucket.com/user/stevie16v/library/
  12. As above, it sounds as thought some air is getting in to it, that'd be the first place i'd start looking
  13. It might be the actual switch itself aswell. Be worthwhile checking the switch and the relay. I had this problem on an old sr125 i had, turned out to be a bad earth
  14. Thumbs up to what megawatt said. He's the man!
  15. I have just had a similar thing. Turned out to be a bent intake valve. Does it smell very strong after running an revving it a little? Try checking your valve clearances. At the least, it would narrow that out. Is the down pip from all cylinders hot? thats another sign of problems if one is not
  16. Who didnt see them safely? If it was the dsa examiner, The test shouldn't have begun (although you'd still be charged) as they need to carry out a quick safety check at the test centre
  17. Had already done that, Didn't resolve it, Turned out to be a bent valve on the third cylinder
  18. yeah, I was getting fuel to all plugs, Turns out that it's a bent intake valve on the third cylinder...So it's being stripped at present and bein sold for parts, I'll put the pennies towards another bike
  19. It would cost me abou £100 on fuel to go get it lol Too much hassle for my liking anyways to be honest incase it all goes horribly wrong
  20. Sorry fozzie, Already started splitting it, Thrown too much money at it to justify any more to be honest, So on the lookout for another one. The valve was the biggie, Would work out cheaper getting a donor engine which would be £150-£200 and still a risk as i wouldnt know the history of that either. Don't have any great pics of it unfortunately
  21. Thanks for your help folks, Looks like the intake valve on 3 is knackered, There is also a snapped thread on the head so it's going for scrap (see other post) Cheers again for your help
  22. Thats the one, forgot it moved
  23. Cracking place, Good road aswell if you came up the 737, I regularly used to go there, usually the long way through largs since i stay in greenock
  24. Yeah, They are, It was the idle AIR i was thinking off, Just been down and checked tho, they're as clear as can be. Knew it'd be too good to be true! Squared up a compression tester but wont be able to get it until next week, when im nightshift and 50 miles away from the bike! lol In the mean time tho, after i've checked the clearances. You mentioned about spraying fuel into the intake. Could i do that with the carbs off and just trying to turn the engine over on the start button and listen for it trying to fire?
  25. bugger, i'll maybe nip down and try and take them out, hope they dont shred, The jets on these things are made of cheese
